Chapter 225

What really stung was that even Sylvieโ€™s sister, Iris, wouldnโ€™t stand up for her. Instead, Iris warned Sylvie not to cause any more trouble.

That just made Sylvie even more restless and upset. Her frustration and anger kept chipping away at her self-control.

When she saw Rowena strutting by, a little scheme instantly formed in her mind.

She took the initiative to walk up and greet her. โ€œRowena, long time no see!โ€

Rowena, dressed in a custom-made dress, swept a cool glance over Sylvie, her expression full of disdain. โ€œWhat is it?โ€

Rowenaโ€™s attitude was anything but friendly, definitely not approachable. She carried herself with an air of superiority, as if no one else was even worth her attention.

โ€œRowena, itโ€™s nothing important. Do you know Winifred! Sheโ€™sโ€ฆโ€ Sylvie didnโ€™t even get to finish before Rowena cut her off with a frosty look, not even bothering to glance her way.

โ€œIf you have nothing to say, then donโ€™t call out to me,โ€ Rowena said coolly. With that, she lifted her chin and strode away without a second thought.

Sylvie was left standing there, mortified, wishing she could just sink into the floor and disappear as all the people around her shot her strange looks.

Sylvie bit her lip in humiliation, clenching her fists so tightly her knuckles turned pale.

Sylvie wondered, "What are you so arrogant about, Rowena? Just because youโ€™re the number one genius in the whole school? Like thatโ€™s so impressive.

โ€œDo you really think youโ€™re an angel? Pfft. Acting all high and mighty. Iโ€™d like to see if you can still keep your cool when Winifred threatens your interests.โ€

That afternoon, they had an outdoor activity. The teacher, Alice Green, led the students up the hill behind the school to spark some inspiration for a nature painting.

Sylvie kept secretly watching Rowena, determined to create some conflict between her and Winifred no matter what.

When Sylvie noticed Rowena take off her necklace and put it in her bag, Sylvie couldnโ€™t help but smirk. She quickly hurried over, glancing around to make sure no one was watching.

When no one was paying attention, Sylvie swiftly snatched up the necklace and, pretending nothing had happened, wandered over to Winifredโ€™s backpack.

Seeing that Winifredโ€™s bag was wide open, Sylvie could barely contain her glee. She tossed the necklace right in without hesitation.

โ€œWinifred, youโ€™re my biggest enemy. No one makes my blood boil like you do. Youโ€™re the reason Iโ€™m ruined,โ€ Sylvie thought. "You stole the reputation I worked so hard to build, dragging me down from a goddess on a pedestal to a nobody in the dirt.

โ€œYou seriously deserve a thousand deaths for that. If it werenโ€™t for your powerful sister, youโ€™d be the first one Iโ€™d get rid of."

Sylvie wondered, โ€œAnd then thereโ€™s Rowena, always pretending to be some holier-than-thou ice queen, acting like sheโ€™s above everyone else, too good to even talk to people, so smug and self-righteous.

โ€œShe is seriously full of herself, always off on her own. Iโ€™ve tried so many times to be friendly, but all I ever get is the cold shoulder. Letโ€™s see which one of you comes out on top in this show.โ€

Either way, whoever ended up winning, it was all good news for Sylvie.

The more Sylvie thought about it, the more hyped she got. She couldnโ€™t help but laugh out loud.

The other students stared at her like sheโ€™d gone off the deep end, edging away in fear. โ€œDid that last setback mess her up so bad sheโ€™s lost it?โ€ they wondered.

After the activity was over, Alice rounded everyone up.

โ€œMake sure youโ€™ve got all your personal belongings and get ready to leave," Alice reminded them.

Rowena was shocked to find her necklace missing. She searched her bag over and over, but it was nowhere to be found.

โ€˜I know I put it in my bag,โ€™ she thought, frowning in displeasure. โ€˜Did it really just disappear like that?โ€™

Violet Emerson, Rowenaโ€™s deskmate, noticed and quickly asked, โ€œHey, Rowena, whatโ€™s up?โ€

Rowena shook her head. โ€œItโ€™s nothing.โ€

โ€˜Itโ€™s just a necklace. If itโ€™s lost, then so be it,โ€™ she thought. Rowena hated making a fuss and drawing everyoneโ€™s attention over something so minor.

โ€œWait, Rowena? Did you lose your necklace? I just saw you put it in your bag earlier,โ€ said Violet.

Rowena nodded and kept putting her brushes away.

โ€œMs. Green, Rowenaโ€™s necklace is missing. Itโ€™s really expensive,โ€ Violet shouted.

Before Rowena could remind her not to spread the news, Violet was already calling out to Alice and explaining the situation.

โ€œRowena, I remember you said that necklace was a gift from your mom, and it means a lot to you. Donโ€™t worry. Itโ€™s white and really noticeable. Weโ€™ll definitely find it,โ€ said Violet.
