Chapter 227

With a frown, Rowena snapped, โ€œShut up.โ€

Now that the item had been found, she didnโ€™t want to make a fuss about who was responsible.

The students around them started whispering and badmouthing Sienna.

Winifred didnโ€™t bother with their gossip. She just strolled right past them like nothing happened, and instantly, everyone went dead silent.

Cowards, Winifred thought. So itโ€™s Sylvie, huh? She really had the nerve to drag me into this. Just wait. Iโ€™ll make sure she canโ€™t even protect herself next time.

In no time, posts like "[Winifred is a thief]", "[Winifred stole the campus belle Rowenaโ€™s necklace]", and "[Winifred got caught stealing on the spot]" started blowing up on the school forum.

Gossip about Winifred was spreading like wildfire. Everywhere on campus, people were whispering about what happened.

When Olivia saw all those posts, she didnโ€™t believe a word of it.

Winifredโ€™s loaded. Why would she even look twice at that poser Rowenaโ€™s tacky stuff? Olivia thought. These people are so annoying. They just believe whatever they hear and spread rumors like crazy. Their mouths are even louder than frogs croaking at night. Not a single one of them can think for themselves. They just open their mouths and start squawking.

Meanwhile, Violet was gossiping with the others, telling the story so vividly that one would think she was actually there watching it all go down.

She began, โ€œYou guys have no idea. When Ms. Green said she was going to search everyone herself, Winifredโ€™s face went pale. She was so scared of getting caught that she hurried to pull out the necklace, then claimed it was in her hands, but she didnโ€™t take it. Seriously, what an act. Iโ€™ve never seen anyone so shameless.โ€

โ€œReally? I canโ€™t believe sheโ€™s that kind of person. No wonder she got expelled. Guess it makes sense now,โ€ someone else chimed in.

โ€œI heard she only got back into school because she has a sugar daddy paying her way,โ€ another person added.

โ€œWow, that explains everything. No wonder sheโ€™s always so fearless. Turns out sheโ€™s got someone powerful backing her.โ€

โ€œI mean, how else could someone who got expelled just stroll back into school like nothing happened?โ€ another student said.

โ€œBesides, Winifred would do anything for money. God knows how filthy she really is,โ€ Violet gossiped.

โ€œSheโ€™s disgusting. Someone like her shouldnโ€™t even be allowed on campus,โ€ someone else chimed in.

โ€œWhat nonsense are you spouting? Got any proof? Youโ€™re just spreading rumors without a shred of evidence, running your mouths for nothing. Keep it up, and Iโ€™ll call the cops for slander,โ€ Olivia snapped.

When they realized it was Olivia, the group just shot her a glare and walked off with a scoff.

Rowena was suddenly standing right behind her, and Olivia nearly jumped out of her skin when she turned around.

Startled, Olivia clutched her chest, her heart pounding. She glared at Rowena and snapped, โ€œWhy didnโ€™t you say anything? Are you crazy or something?โ€

Rowena's eyes were cool and indifferent, her face completely expressionlessโ€“still carrying that aloof, elegant air, like she was looking down on everyone else.

โ€œHow well do you actually know Winifred?โ€ Rowena asked coldly.

โ€œWhatโ€™s it to you! Anyway, Winifred would never be interested in your stuff. Sheโ€™s filthy rich, way richer than any of you. Why would she even bother stealing your necklace?โ€ Olivia shot back without hesitation.

Winifred lives in a freaking mansion, and even her pasta costs a hundred bucks a plate, stuff we canโ€™t even get our hands on. Why would she care about some secondhand necklace? Olivia thought.
