Chapter 234

Amberโ€™s eyes widened in disbelief. "How can Winifred be so self-righteous?" she thought. This was Amber's room; she should be the one acting all high and mighty here. It should be Winifred who had to watch her mood.

After stewing in anger for a while, Amber resentfully yanked the covers back and climbed into bed. "Iโ€™m not going to let her push me around," she thought. "I deserve to sleep in the big bed."

โ€œScoot over, youโ€™re squishing me," Winifred grumbled, frowning as she pushed Amber away. "Thereโ€™s a whole lot of space on that side, but she just has to crowd over here," Winifred thought.

Amber retorted, her voice firm, "This is my bed. If you donโ€™t like it, you can sleep on the floor."

Winifred choked, turning to glare at her, only to see Amber with her eyes shut, letting out a dismissive snort.

Winifred had finally managed to drift off when a sudden movement startled her awake. Her eyes snapped open, and she looked down to see Amberโ€™s arms and legs tangled around her like an octopus. Amber had been clinging to her all night, and Winifred had already pried her off several times. Now, at her limit, she reached out in exasperation, ready to pinch Amberโ€™s cheek.

With a sharp smack, Amber slapped Winifredโ€™s hand away, mumbling something about it tickling, then immediately latched onto Siennaโ€™s neck in a death grip.

Winifred was speechless. Iโ€™d honestly rather crash on the couch than share a bed with her," she thought.

Meanwhile, Sienna was just about to fall asleep when her phone buzzed with an alarm. "Someone had broken into the house. How did he manage to slip in with over fifty guards on duty?" she thought. "This is no ordinary intruder."

She pulled up the security cameras and spotted a blurry figure moving through the house. It wasnโ€™t until the person stepped into the main hall that she finally saw their face clearly.

Quickly, Sienna closed her eyes, cocked her pistol, and waited for him to come. Last time heโ€™d come here, Thorn had run into Sienna coming out of this room. But now, the place was empty.

Left with no choice, he opened the door to the next room and spotted someone sleeping in the bed. He crept over, step by step. His hand had barely touched the light switch when, suddenly, a cold, unyielding gun muzzle was pressed right against his forehead.

Thorn instantly threw his hands up. โ€œItโ€™s me, Thorn. Itโ€™s me,โ€

Siennaโ€™s voice was icy cold. โ€œShowing up in the middle of the nightโ€“are you here to kill me?โ€

โ€œKill you? I wouldnโ€™t dare," Thorn shot back, sounding aggrieved. "Iโ€™m here to settle the score. I waited for you out there for three hoursโ€”nearly froze to death in the wind. Youโ€™re such a liar.โ€

In the darkness, Thornโ€™s deep eyes stayed fixed on Sienna, his voice carrying a clear note of grievance.

โ€œThorn, how did you get past all the bodyguards?โ€ Sienna asked bluntly.

Thorn's eyes flickered with embarrassment. His arms were going numb from holding them up, and he wanted to lower them, but the cold, black muzzle of the gun was still aimed right between his eyes. He instantly froze, not daring to move an inch. "Sienna, I swear, I wasnโ€™t up to anything bad. I just came to see you. Okay, Iโ€™ll talk. Can you please put the gun down first! When I got here today, I walked around your backyard and found a hole where a dog could get through. It was a blind spot, so I slipped in."

Siennaโ€™s gaze was icy and piercing as it fell on him. He really did have some dirt on him.

โ€œI told you, Iโ€™ll give back whatever belongs to the Noir family. You donโ€™t have to go to all this trouble just to try and kill me,โ€ Sienna said, lowering the gun and turning to the side.

Thorn felt a sharp ache in his chest, like something was gnawing away at him from the inside.

โ€œIโ€™ve told you before, I donโ€™t care about anything from the Noir family. Sienna, do you really have no idea how I feel about you?โ€ he said, his voice tinged with pain.

Sienna let out a mocking laugh, her tone full of disdain. โ€œHow do you feel? What are you even talking about?โ€ In her eyes, they could only ever be rivals, or just another member of the Noir family.

Suddenly, Thorn rushed over and pulled her into a tight embrace. Her unique scent washed over him, calming his heartโ€“as if all the pain inside him just melted away.

โ€œSienna, weโ€™ve known each other for ten years. I donโ€™t believe you feel nothing for me. Iโ€™m not exactly a loser, am I? Please, just look at me."
