Chapter 251

โ€œHey, what are you doing? I can walk. Vivian, youโ€™re such a rough woman. Whoโ€™d ever want to marry you anyway?โ€ Amber grumbled, clearly annoyed.

Vivian let go of her, crossed her arms, and gave her a look of pure exasperation. โ€œAmber, are you really that dumb, or just pretending?โ€

Amber blinked, totally lost. โ€œWhat do you mean?โ€

Vivian just shrugged and headed inside the store.

Winifred figured Sienna was about to give her a lecture for messing with Amber, and a twinge of jealousy and sarcasm twisted inside her. โ€˜Is Amber always the one Sienna cares about most?โ€™ she thought bitterly.

โ€˜That idiot is clueless from head to toe. The only thing sheโ€™s good at is acting all pitiful and sweet, just to win everyoneโ€™s sympathy,โ€™ Winifred scoffed inwardly.

โ€œIf youโ€™re here to talk about what happened earlier, donโ€™t expect me to apologize,โ€ Winifred said coldly, her eyes deep and cold as she looked down. No one could notice the flicker of pain in her eyes.

โ€œWhat are you talking about?โ€ Sienna asked, her usual doting gaze now tinged with confusion. Winifred paused for a moment, then quickly shook her head. โ€œItโ€™s nothing. What did you want to talk about, Sienna?โ€

Sienna reached out and took her hand, her voice catching with emotion, eyes brimming with guilt. โ€œWinifred, I know all about what Lydia has done. Back then, you were taken because you were looking for me, right?โ€

Winifred stiffened all over, her movements frozen, unable to say a word.

โ€œWinifred, I know youโ€™ve always been more mature than everyone else. I let you down. From now on, Iโ€™ll make it up to you. Just tell me whatever you want,โ€ Sienna said softly.

Winifred gripped her hand tightly, as if memories of that dark time were flooding back. โ€œI just donโ€™t want you to ever leave me.โ€

Winifred looked up into Siennaโ€™s beautiful, cool eyes, her own eyes full of silent pleading.

Sienna gave a bitter smile, a wave of anguish rising in her heart. โ€œAlright, I wonโ€™t leave you again. But thereโ€™s something I have to tell you. You were just a kid back then, so you probably never noticed.

โ€œLydiaโ€™s people implanted a chip in your head. That thing could affect you for the rest of your life. Iโ€™ll do the surgery. Iโ€™ve already scheduled it for tonight, but if that feels too rushed, I can push it back a couple of days,โ€

Winifredโ€™s eyes flew wide in disbelief, her hand shooting up to touch her head. โ€˜Thereโ€™s actually something inside my head? All these years, and I never knew a thing,โ€™ she wondered.

โ€œDonโ€™t be afraid. Nothing will happen to you, not while Iโ€™m here,โ€ Sienna said, her presence always so calming and reassuring.

But Winifred couldnโ€™t deny the fear that gripped her when she heard about the chip. She was terrified of dying.

Winifred still had so much left to do. Sheโ€™d only managed to win one trophy so far. There was no way she was ready to call it quits.

But feeling the warmth of Siennaโ€™s hand in hers, all Winifredโ€™s fears faded away. As long as Sienna was there, nothing could scare her.

โ€œAlright, Sienna, I trust you. Letโ€™s do it tonight,โ€ Winifred said with a small smile. Sienna returned her smile and gently ruffled Winifredโ€™s hair. โ€œI promise, I wonโ€™t let anything happen to you.โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Winifred replied.

Meanwhile, Vivian and Amber were just about to leave the store after buying some things when a man blocked their way, โ€œHey there, cuties, want to grab a bite with me?โ€ he said, oozing sleaziness.

Amberโ€™s round face scrunched up, her pretty eyes filled with pure disgust and impatience.

โ€œWe donโ€™t need anything. Get lost,โ€ Amber shot back.

โ€œOh, got some attitude, huhโ€ฆโ€ Before the man could finish, he suddenly found himself staring at a masked man whoโ€™d appeared out of nowhere. โ€œWhere the hell did you come from? Do you even know whose turf this isโ€ฆโ€

He didnโ€™t even get the words out before he spotted the squad of bodyguards behind them, and instantly chickened out.

โ€œSir, weโ€™re just passing through, just passing through,โ€ the man said with a sheepish grin, then bolted without another word.

โ€œAmby, what are you doing here? Whereโ€™s Sienna?โ€ Hudson spotted Amber with a lollipop in her mouth and just grabbed it, tossing it straight into the trash. โ€œTalk to me.โ€

โ€œHey,โ€ Amber yelled, and almost before he could react, she socked him hard in the chest. โ€œDonโ€™t think just because you helped us out, you can walk all over me, Hudson. Throw away my candy again and youโ€™re dead meat.โ€

Hudson clutched his chest, wincing. โ€˜Damn, that really hurt.โ€™

โ€œHey, Amber, it was just a lollipop. Did you have to hit that hard? You nearly broke my ribs,โ€ he cried out.

Amber shot him a glare, unwrapped another lollipop, and stomped off.

Vivian raised an eyebrow, curiosity flickering in her eyes. โ€œAnd you are? How do you know Amber?โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re Vivian, right? Iโ€™m Siennaโ€™s friend. Tell her to keep Amber under control. Sheโ€™s got zero manners. She almost killed me just now,โ€ Hudson complained, still rubbing his chest.

Vivianโ€™s gentle, innocent face broke into a smile. โ€œYou totally asked for it. You messed with her, didnโ€™t you? And we donโ€™t need your so-called help. Our bodyguards are literally right across the street.โ€

โ€˜Heโ€™s the one with no manners. And what kind of dumb nickname is that for Amber? It sounds awful,โ€™ Vivian thought.

Hudsonโ€™s face froze. โ€˜Wait, so Iโ€™m the one who brought this on myself?โ€™ he wondered.

Vivian and Amber shared a ride home, while Sienna took Winifred straight to the hospital.

Sienna had just started driving when she suddenly realized the brakes were dead. Her pupils shrank in alarm.

Winifred immediately sensed her tension and asked, โ€œSienna, whatโ€™s wrong?โ€
