Chapter 345
Lana glanced nervously at Sienna. Thorn took Siennaโs hands in his; they were spotless, with no trace of anything.
But they all knew Lustbane was colorless and odorless. Once it touched your skin, youโd be burning up within half an hour.
โHazel, come on, letโs get to the hospital. Right now,โ Isabel pleaded, her voice frantic as she reached for her daughter.
Sienna pulled away. โMom, Dad, Iโm fine. A little Lustbane isnโt going to take me down. I need to go hack right now. I can mix the antidote myself. You two should go home.โ
Her parents were still sick with worry, but Thorn said, โAlright. Iโll take them home first, then Iโll come find you.โ He could see Sienna needed to get away, so he had no choice but to lead his parents out.
โOkay,โ Sienna replied.
In the car, Siennaโs throat was already starting to feel parched.
โGet me a bottle of water,โ she rasped.
This Lustbane was a nasty piece of work concocted by some real degenerates, mostly circulating in other countries. There was no known cure. A hospital would be useless; inhibitors would just leave her with permanent side effects. Real damage.
Lana and Reno knew how potent the poison was. They exchanged a look before Lana spoke in a low voice, โBoss, maybe we should find someoneโฆ clean?โ
Seeing Lana Yost speak up, Reno Lynch quickly added, โHoss, this stuff can cause infertility at best, and at worst, it could ruin your body and mind. Honestly, the best solution is to find someone to help youโฆโ
Sienna knew exactly what they were suggesting. It was just about finding a man.
Lana steeled herself. โBoss, your sisters arenโt ready to stand on their own yet. Theyโre still waiting for you. If something happens to you, if your health is compromised, theyโฆโ
Sienna took a deep breath, leaned her head back against the seat, and closed her eyes, the unopened water bottle still in her hand.
The faces of Julian and Thorn flashed through her mind. Better to use a loyal subordinate than to ruin an innocent life.
โBoss, donโt worry,โ Reno said. โThere will be no loose ends.โ
She would have the manโs ashes scattered to the wind, ensuring no connection to Sienna could ever be made. To them, the man Sienna needed right now was nothing more than a disposable tool.
Reno had already scouted a suitable candidate: a top student from a prestigious Meridian university. Six-foot-two, shredded, with a six-pack. A clean slate, no dating history.
Lana watched Sienna carefully, trying to guess what she was thinking.
โBoss, if no one else will do, I think Thorn is a good option. He would never betray you,โ Lana said softly.
Reno frowned at the suggestion. โNo way. Heโs filthy. How could he possibly be worthy of you? Besides, heโs a psycho. Once he gets his claws into you, youโll never get him off.โ
Ten years ago, Thorn had been into everything โ women, gambling, the whole nine yards. While there was no concrete proof of how many women heโd been with, a guy from that kind of environment couldnโt possibly be clean.
Reno was dead set against it.
She had a list of a dozen men ready to go, just waiting for Siennaโs approval. She held out her phone, displaying the photos. She could have any one of them here in ten minutes.
It was Lanaโs turn to fall silent. She knew it was true.
But a small, selfish part of her still wanted to see Sienna and Thorn together. It would silence any dissent from that side of the Noir family and save Sienna a lot of trouble.
Siennaโs eyes snapped open, her mind suddenly clear. The drug must be hitting her hard if she was actually considering Thorn.
