Chapter 370

Thorn crashed heavily onto the bed, blood soaking a huge patch of the sheets. Sienna was covered in blood from head to toe.

Julian happened to walk in at that exact moment. The sight made his face go pale, and he immediately rushed into the room.

โ€œSienna, are you okay?โ€ he blurted out, panic in his voice.

"Iโ€™m fine,โ€ she replied calmly. โ€œItโ€™s not my blood. Take him to the hospital. Donโ€™t let him die."

Only then did Julian notice Thorn, completely naked, blood gushing nonstop from his chest.

Without asking any questions, he hoisted Thorn onto his back and rushed downstairs.

Sienna watched the car disappear into the rainy night. She slipped into a black silk nightgown, her skin pale as porcelain, her lips the color of blood-soaked roses, a few red marks scattered across her collarbone. She lit up a cigarette.

The orange tip of the cigarette flickered between her fingers, her eyes reflecting a glassy, cold light through the haze of smoke.

Sienna just couldnโ€™t figure out why her hand trembled when she struck, and why she felt a strange reluctance.

โ€˜Could it be that Iโ€ฆ No, thatโ€™s impossible,' she thought.

She had only saved him back then because she owed him a favor.

Thorn had just been discharged from the hospital that afternoon, and now, just a few hours later, he was being brought back, covered in blood, by Julian.

Clark swallowed nervously, thinking. โ€œCould it be that Julian, driven by love and jealousy, actually tried to kill Thorn?โ€

โ€œHoly crap!" he thought.

"Is Julian really this cold-blooded and merciless? Maybe I should just quit while I still can. Is he going to silence me for good one day?โ€ he thought, a chill running down his spine.

โ€œHey, snap out of it!" Julian called out a few times, but Clark didnโ€™t respond.

โ€œHuh?โ€ Clark snapped out of it, and when he saw Julianโ€™s annoyed face, he let out a couple of awkward laughs.

โ€œHa, itโ€™s nothing really, sir. Just thinking about some personal stuff,โ€ he stammered.

โ€œDid Thorn ever give you any trouble before?" Julian asked.

Clark answered honestly, โ€œNo, sir.โ€

Julian stared deeply at the operating room. Thorn, maybe you canโ€™t live without her, but feelings are never up to us, he thought.

He was so close to being beyond saving.

As he looked at Thorn lying on the hospital bed, a hint of guilt flickered in Julianโ€™s eyes.

He admitted that he had hurt Thorn in order to have Sienna for himself.

โ€œClark, stay here. Let me know as soon as he wakes up. Andโ€ฆ tell him about what happened before. Never mind, Iโ€™ll tell him myself,โ€ he said.

Thorn wouldnโ€™t be waking up anytime soon, so he decided to go back and check in.

When Julian returned to the villa, he saw that the light in Siennaโ€™s room was still on. He knocked and walked in.

Sienna was standing by the window, holding a glass of red wine, with cigarette butts at her feet.

โ€œHeโ€™s fine," Julian said as he walked over and poured himself a glass of wine.

Sienna turned in response, her gaze fixed on him. โ€œJulian, do you hate Thorn?โ€

At that, Julian's hand paused, his eyes flickering under his lashes. โ€œYeah. I do,โ€ he admitted.

That was the truth. No matter how gentle and easygoing he appeared, deep down, he was just a jealous, possessive guy. He couldnโ€™t stand that Thorn had been by her side for ten whole years.

He was jealous of how Sienna just couldnโ€™t let go of Thorn.

He was jealous that because of who he was, Thorn could act out again and again in front of her and get away with it every time.

He envied the way Thorn could love herโ€”possessive, pent-up, even messed up, but still able to show it openly.

At the same time, he hated how perfect he always had to be. With him, even the tiniest bit of darkness would leave a stain.

He really envied how Thorn could just be himself, living wild and true to his own nature, never hiding his darkness from Sienna, while he could only keep his real self locked away because there was nothing tying him and Sienna together at all. If she ever got tired of him, there would be no way out for him.

Julian walked over to her with his glass of wine, smiling faintly, a flicker of bitterness in his eye.
