Chapter 391

โ€œIโ€™m guessing your new faction doesnโ€™t want to clash with your sisterโ€™s, right? So instead of overexerting yourself, why not utilize the resources already available to you?โ€

Fayโ€™s words made Winifred pause, deep in thought. Worried she might perceive him as scheming, Fay slowly stood up. โ€œIโ€™ve been by your sisterโ€™s side for twelve years. Even if it cost me my life, Iโ€™d never betray her. But hey, take it as a suggestionโ€”entirely up to you.โ€

Just as Fay was about to leave, Winifred called out, โ€œAlright, Iโ€™m in.โ€

Winifred never expected to encounter Sean on her first mission. Sheโ€™d just finished and was about to leave when Sean suddenly grabbed her ankle. He was sprawled on the ground, barely clinging to life, gasping for breath, and looking near death.

Winifredโ€™s face remained blank, her eyes icy as she kicked him off without hesitation. But he latched onto her leg with a death grip.

She said coldly, โ€œGet lost.โ€

Sean gritted his teeth, stubbornly refusing to release his grip. โ€œSave me, Iโ€™ll pay youโ€”however much you want.โ€

Winifred truly didnโ€™t want to be involved in his mess. The last time sheโ€™d interfered, sheโ€™d ended up owing Fay a favor. She knew encountering him always spelled trouble.

No matter how hard Winifred kicked or punched, Sean wouldnโ€™t let go. He clung to her leg like a drowning man grasping a lifeline.

After struggling, Winifred heard voices nearby. โ€œSearch every inch! He has to be closeโ€”he canโ€™t escape.โ€

Someone said, โ€œHeโ€™s badly hurt. He wonโ€™t survive this. Make sure heโ€™s dead to avoid future trouble.โ€

Another urgently added, โ€œThereโ€™s movement ahead! Hurry!โ€

Winifred frowned, realizing she couldnโ€™t dislodge Sean. With no other option, she hauled him up and dragged him to a hidden spot.

Sean continued struggling, so Winifred gave him a sharp slap, which finally subdued him.

Once the searchers left, Winifred helped him from their hiding place, hailed a cab, and took him straight to the Lecter family home.

โ€œMiss, who are you looking for?โ€ The elderly butler opened the door.

Winifred said, โ€œI found this man on the street. He said this was his home, so I brought him back.โ€

The butler leaned closer, instantly recognizing Sean.

โ€œOh my goodness!โ€ he exclaimed, raising his voice. โ€œMadam! Sir! Mr. Sean Lecter is back! A girl saved him and brought him home! Hurry, come quickly!โ€

In a flash, servants and bodyguards rushed out, followed by an elegant coupleโ€”likely Seanโ€™s parents.

โ€œI just found him on the street. No need to thank me.โ€ Winifred turned to leave.

Diane Lecter, Seanโ€™s mother, hurried forward. โ€œMiss, wait! Please, donโ€™t go! You saved my sonโ€”we donโ€™t know how to thank you!โ€

Winifred replied, โ€œNo need.โ€

โ€œMiss, you donโ€™t understand. Heโ€™s our only son, and youโ€™re our familyโ€™s savior. Please, come inside! Weโ€™ll do anything to repay you,โ€ Diane pleaded.

Diane did everything she could to persuade Winifred to stay. Winifred immediately sensed something was amiss. She thought, โ€˜In this situation, any normal parent would rush to their sonโ€™s sideโ€”so why are they so focused on a stranger? Somethingโ€™s wrong.โ€™

Winifred narrowed her eyes. โ€œCut to the chase. If you have something to say, just say it.โ€

They hadnโ€™t expected Winifred to see through them so quickly.

Diane grabbed her hand, her eyes desperate. โ€œMiss, I know what Iโ€™m about to say might sound crazy, but itโ€™s true. Not long ago, a priest told us my son was fated for disasterโ€”doomed to die unless a girl saved him. So please, I beg you, donโ€™t go. Just stay a little longer, okay?โ€
