Chapter 54

Amber saw Vivian dodge, and she kept charging at her, yelling, โ€œVivian, how dare you bully Mom and Jocelyn? Iโ€™ll make you pay for this!โ€

Siennaโ€™s eyes darkened at those words, her expression freezing for an instant, a change Jocelyn didnโ€™t miss. Jocelyn curled her lips into a smug smile, thinking, โ€˜So what if youโ€™re strong? Amber only acknowledges me as her sister.โ€™

Vivian gritted her teeth and snapped, โ€œAmber, you backstabbing traitor, calling them your family? You must be blind.โ€

Amber shot back, โ€œYouโ€™re the blind one. You donโ€™t know whatโ€™s good for you, always picking on Jocelyn. And you even hit Mom. How could you? Punishment will get you. Vivian, I hate you the most.โ€

Jocelyn cut in with feigned understanding, โ€œAmber, donโ€™t say that. Vivian is your sister. You and I arenโ€™t actually related. I totally get why they donโ€™t accept me.โ€

Amber shouted angrily, โ€œSheโ€™s not my sister. I donโ€™t have a crazy sister like her. Jocelyn, youโ€™re the only one I acknowledge as my sister.โ€

Vivian clenched her fists, her face flushed crimson with rage as she ground her teeth and shouted, โ€œYou think Iโ€™d ever want a sister like you? You backstabbing snake. Amber, youโ€™re nothing but trashโ€“blind, stupid trash who canโ€™t even tell right from wrong. What a complete moron.โ€

Amber shouted, โ€œHow dare you insult me, Vivian? Youโ€™re the real psycho here, just a used-up slut. And you have the nerve to call me trash? You filthy, low-life bitch, dirtier than a sewage ditch. Just standing next to you makes me sick. Who knows how many men have fucked you? Ahโ€ฆโ€

Before Amber could finish, Siennaโ€™s hand shot out in a swift slap across her face. She held back most of her strength. Had she used her full force, that slap could have drawn blood or even knocked out a tooth.

The short-haired girl was momentarily stunned by the slap. Though it didnโ€™t hurt physically, Amberโ€™s heart ached with a crushing sense of injustice. In that instant, she felt so wronged she almost burst into tears.

Staring at Sienna before her, Amber parted her lips but couldnโ€™t find any words. She bit down hard on her lower lip, and large teardrops welled up in her aggrieved eyes and spilled down her cheeks.

Sienna gazed at the young, adorable girl before her, her short bob and tear-reddened eyes making her look all the more innocent. For a moment, Sienna couldnโ€™t help but feel a pang of guilt tug at her heart.

However, Sienna remained stern, her noble yet icy demeanor unwavering as she gazed at Amber. Her crimson lips parted slightly as she commanded, โ€œApologize.โ€

Amberโ€™s eyes widened as the realization hit her. โ€˜She did it for Vivian?โ€™ she wondered.

โ€œI wonโ€™t,โ€ Amber shouted, shoving Sienna away forcefully before turning and running out.

โ€œOh, Sienna, whatโ€™s this about? You just came back and already slapped Amber. Youโ€™re her sister. How could you do that to her?โ€ Jocelyn said with feigned concern, barely able to contain her glee.

Jocelyn put on a concerned look and said, โ€œI will go check on Amber. Sheโ€™s just a young girl, all by herselfโ€”โ€

Sienna shot her an icy glare. โ€œShut your mouth, Jocelyn Turner.โ€

At the mention of it, Jocelynโ€™s face froze. Hatred flashed in her eyes as she clenched her empty fist.

Vivian clung to Siennaโ€™s arm. โ€œCome on, Sienna. Letโ€™s head upstairs.โ€

Sienna didnโ€™t refuse, but her heart ached with remorse. She hated to raise her hand, yet she knew that slap was necessary.

Reno saw Amber running out and immediately followed. โ€˜So, she was Miss Amber, the same girl from last time,โ€™ she wondered.

โ€œHey Sienna, just get some sleep. Donโ€™t mind Amber. She doesnโ€™t like me, and I donโ€™t like her either. Sheโ€™s such a traitor, Jocelyn, and Lindaโ€™s pet lackey,โ€ said Vivian.

Sienna was about to scold Vivian when it suddenly hit her. โ€˜What right do I have? It was my sudden disappearance that made Amber turn out like this,โ€™ she wondered.

Sienna said gently, โ€œVivian, sheโ€™s your sister. No matter what happens, that will never change.โ€

Vivian lowered her gaze without a word, pressing closer to Sienna as she muttered under her breath, โ€œI only want you, Sienna.โ€

Vivian didnโ€™t give a damn about anyone else. With Sienna by her side, she had a home, sheโ€™d never be alone again.

Fatigue weighed heavily on Sienna after a sleepless night immersed in work, leaving her completely spent.

Jocelyn stormed into the guest room, fuming. โ€˜Damn that Sienna,โ€™ she cursed under her breath. โ€˜Where is Aiden? Aiden really drops the ball when it matters most.โ€™

Jocelyn didnโ€™t contact those thugs directly. Instead, she asked a friend who lived nearby and found out theyโ€™d all been thrown in jail.

The news scared the hell out of her. โ€˜Werenโ€™t they supposed to be invincible? What a bunch of useless trash,โ€™ wondered Jocelyn. โ€˜Good thing I kept my cover. No matter how deep they dig, theyโ€™ll never trace it back to me. Consider yourself lucky, Vivian. Sienna, was this your doing, or just a coincidence?โ€™

Jocelyn hoped it was the latter. No way Sienna could wield that kind of power.

Jocelyn held a director position at Hart Corporation, but according to Linda, Sienna had now taken control of the company and purged all their people.

A flash of hatred flickered in Jocelynโ€™s eyes as she dialed the number. With a trace of malice in her voice, she said, โ€œHey, itโ€™s me. Yes, about Hart Corporation. If youโ€™re interested, we should meet in person. I guarantee you wonโ€™t be disappointed.โ€

โ€˜With Hart Corporationโ€™s core secrets leaked, letโ€™s see if you can still keep your CEO seat secure, Sienna,โ€™ Jocelyn wondered.

At the hospital, Aiden opened his eyes, his body covered in bruises and wounds. With great difficulty, he grabbed his phone and called Sienna.

In a hoarse, urgent voice, he told her, โ€œI was kidnapped, tortured, and beaten last night. Call the police right awayโ€“you have to find out who did this.โ€

Lana said calmly, โ€œMr. Hart, Miss Sienna is resting at the moment. Iโ€™ll handle this matter by reporting it to the police.โ€

โ€œAlright, youโ€™ve got to catch that bastard,โ€ Aiden said.

It wasnโ€™t that Lana had taken the call without permission. This simply wasnโ€™t Siennaโ€™s personal phone. Aiden wasnโ€™t even worthy of knowing Siennaโ€™s private number.

Lana hung up the phone, glanced at Reno gaming on the couch, and walked over. She gave Reno a nudge with her foot and said sternly, โ€œIs that all youโ€™ve got? Woke up way too soon.โ€

Without even looking up, Reno scoffed, โ€œUnderestimate me? That bastard canโ€™t get out of bed in a month, I promise.โ€

Lana looked at Reno with a stern expression. โ€œBe more professional. Werenโ€™t you supposed to be watching Miss Amber? Where is she now?โ€

Reno said, โ€œRelax. Sheโ€™s still here. Did Miss Sienna say if we should bring her back? Itโ€™s pouring here, not safe at all for her to be alone.โ€

Reno just finished her last game. She switched to another app on her phone and pulled up the surveillance feed. โ€œSee? Sheโ€™s right here.โ€

Lana shook her head in exasperation and was just about to leave when Reno sidled up to her. Reno was no match for Lana, who towered over her.

Lana anticipated Renoโ€™s move and pressed a hand against her forehead just before she could close the distance. โ€œGet back to work. Now,โ€ Lana ordered.

Reno glared at Lana. โ€œCome on, Lana, donโ€™t be so cold. Weโ€™re coworkers and friends. Canโ€™t you be a little nicer?โ€

Lana grabbed Reno by the collar, straightened her up, and ordered, โ€œGet moving.โ€

โ€œFine,โ€ Reno muttered weakly, shuffling out with obvious reluctance.
