Chapter 71

When word spread, a stampede surged toward the front rows. But as those from the back pushed through, Kenton was quickly surrounded by those who had secured prime seats.

Vesta, though in the front row, remained disengaged. Noticing this, Laverne, feeling impatient, beckoned her over.

Vesta approached, saying, "Aunt Laverne." Understanding Laverne's unspoken intentions, she explained, "With all these important people surrounding Mr. Wagner, trying to chat wouldn't be productive. Thorne said we could arrange a private meeting later."

"That's right," Laverne conceded, realizing her impatience had been premature.

Thorne was mingling with industry leaders they usually only read about, and hoping to expand Vesta's network, Laverne encouraged her to join.

Unfazed, Vesta replied, "I've met most of them already." Thanks to Thorne, these industry titans were quite cordial.

Reassured by Vesta's connections and Thorne's attentiveness, Laverne smiled. "That's good to hear."

After speaking with Laverne, Vesta rejoined Thorne. Entering that crowd was difficult for most, but as Thorne's date, the throng parted effortlessly before her.

After their time with Kenton, the business moguls dispersed, engaging in discussions about market trends.

Upon Vesta's return, someone quipped, "Ms. Hawkins is quite the catch, Thorne. You've hit the jackpot."

Despite their high status, these moguls judged on merit. Vesta's impressive resume, beauty, and poise made her stand out as a remarkable professional. Their compliments were sincere.

Thorne smiled, and Vesta graciously replied, "Mr. Dale, you flatter me."

The conversation continued until Kenton, pressed for time, excused himself. No one dared detain him, aware of his considerable responsibilities.

As Kenton departed, Charlene and Stewart were engrossed in conversation with tech specialists, never vying for Kenton's attention like others. While gaining access to Kenton wasn't as straightforward for them, it wasn't impossible. Indeed, shortly after Kenton left, Stewart received a message and escorted Charlene to meet him in the parking lot.

Kenton, seemingly messaging someone, looked up at their arrival.

Charlene stopped, saying, "Professor Wagner."

Kenton nodded. His tone cold, he remarked, "I've seen your exhibit. It's decent. But," his gaze swept over them, "three years, and this is all you've got?"
