Chapter 166
โDo you care about whoโs bullying me, if Iโve been wronged, or do you just care about me?โ Elizabethโs voice softened, almost disappearing by the end.
Alexander stayed silent for a moment.
Elizabeth smiled faintly, knowing the question would only bring Iser pain. She calmly continued, โI get it, Mr. Tudor. Youโre concerned as an ex-husband.โ
The elevator doors opened, and Elizabeth stepped in, seeing Alexander still outside. She knew their relationship couldn't go further.
Elizabeth smiled and asked, like talking to a stranger, โMr. Tudor, are you coming?โ
Alexander checked his watch. His gathering wasnโt over yet, but it was about time. Nolan could handle it.
Seeing him check the time, Elizabeth thought he wasnโt coming, so she pressed the elevator button.
Just as the doors were closing, he blocked them and walked in, saying, โIโll take you home.โ
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. After he entered, she pressed the close button again. โI can go back by myself.โ
โItโs on the way,โ he replied.
Elizabeth stayed silent. The elevator descended in silence. The doors opened, and they walked out together.
Before reaching the restaurant entrance, they ran into Esme. Esme approached Alexander with a smile. He seemed surprised to see her.
Esme wrapped her arms around Alexanderโs waist, glanced at Elizabeth, then looked at Alexander, and said, โHave you been drinking?โ
Alexander frowned. โDid Nolan tell you I was here?โ
Esme nodded. โYes. I was looking for you and couldnโt find you.โ
She hooked her finger around Alexanderโs, exuding seduction, and said softly, โAlexander, Henry is free today. He wants to invite you to our house for dinner.โ
Elizabeth couldnโt stand their flirtation. It felt like a shot to her heart. Seeing them together, she didnโt want to make herself uncomfortable and left.
โElizabeth!โ Alexander called after her.
Elizabeth waved without turning back. โYou donโt need to take me home. I can go by myself.โ
Esme stared at Elizabethโs back, feeling suspicious. Nolan said Alexander was here for a business meeting, so how did he run into Elizabeth? She must have planned this! Esme thought, feeling even more furious. If Elizabeth wasnโt out of the picture, she feared sheโd never marry Alexander!
โDonโt ask Nolan about my schedule again.โ Alexander suddenly removed Esmeโs hand from his waist.
Esme looked at Alexander, noticing his darkened expression. โI couldnโt reach you, soโฆโ she explained.
Alexander frowned, lowering his voice. โIf you canโt reach me, it means Iโm busy. Or Iโll contact you.โ
Hearing this, Esmeโs expression turned a bit disappointed.
Chapter 166
โCheck our chat history. How many times can you contact me in a year? Youโre busy every day!โ Esme crossed her arms in dissatisfaction and huffed.
Alexander paused. He believed he had spent as much time with Esme as possible, but she was still not satisfied.
What about Elizabeth? He truly didnโt contact Elizabeth more than a few times a year. Thinking about his attitude every time Elizabeth texted or called him, he felt that he owed Elizabeth so much that he could never repay her in this lifetime.
โAlexander, I just love you too much.โ Esme lowered her head, this time not throwing a tantrum but expressing her love. She knew very well that Alexander liked obedient women. He would never like a strong-willed woman.
