Chapter 201
โElizabeth, have you fallen for Joseph?โ Lily asked. If Elizabeth admitted she loved Joseph, the Tudor family would leave her alone. Elizabeth gripped her phone, bit her lip, and said firmly, โYes, Grandma. Joseph is great and gentle, and Iโm happy with him.โ
Lily went silent, but Elizabeth could sense her sigh. Lily had done so much for Elizabethโs marriage to Alexander, yet here they were. โElizabeth, I canโt bear to let you go,โ Lilyโs voice wavered.
Elizabeth smiled. โEven if Alexander and I arenโt together, my feelings for you all wonโt change. Iโll still visit often, okay?โ
Lily was reluctant. โElizabeth, please reconsider.โ
โGrandma, I really have fallen for Joseph.โ With that, Elizabeth made Lily give up. Lily had no reason to keep pushing. Elizabeth hung up the phone, feeling surprisingly calm.
Leaving the Tudor family turned out to be simple. She took a deep breath and went downstairs. The family was all there. Declan had brought Grant home from the hospital early. They were all at the dining table, waiting for her. Seeing them made Elizabeth happy.
โElizabeth, were you with Joseph last night?โ Rose teased.
Elizabeth blushed. โMom!โ
โYou two had fun!โ Rose laughed. โCould Joseph be your future husband?โ
โLetโs eat and stop talking about that,โ Elizabeth said.
Declan looked at Elizabeth and sighed inwardly. Who knew if sheโd be happy without Alexander?
โGet the divorce done soon!โ Celine said sternly.
Elizabeth nodded. โGot it, Grandma. Iโll do it after I finish my current work.โ
โGood. We heard about the hospital incident. I support you,โ Celine said.
Elizabeth was touched. โThank you, Grandma.โ
โGrandpa, rest well. Iโm off to work,โ Elizabeth said to Grant.
Grant nodded.
At the hospital locker room, Elizabeth had just put on her white coat when she saw Esme.
โMs. Russell, feeling better?โ Elizabeth asked.
Esme looked up. โMs. Percy, youโre quite famous lately.โ
โNot really,โ Elizabeth replied.
โYou and Mr. Stewart make quite a pair,โ Esme added.
Elizabeth smirked. โShould I hurry up and divorce Alexander to make room for you?โ
โYouโd better!โ Esme said through gritted teeth.
Elizabeth snorted and ignored her. They walked out of the locker room together. Esme mocked, โElizabeth, youโre still married. Staying out all night with another man doesnโt look good for Alexander.โ
โMind your own business,โ Elizabeth said, walking ahead.
Esme stopped, her face darkening. โWho wants to meddle in her affairs? Iโm just thinking of Alexander. If people know his wife was out all night with another man, how embarrassed will he be?โ
