Chapter 216

Elizabeth dodged Terryโ€™s knife with a quick roll.

โ€œStop dodging!โ€ Terry yelled, veins popping on his forehead. Elizabeth wasnโ€™t dumb; of course, sheโ€™d dodge.

Terry glared as Elizabeth stood up, a silver needle slipping into her fingers from her sleeve. Realizing he couldnโ€™t get close, Terry turned to Linda. He grabbed her arm, pulling her in front of him, knife to her neck.

โ€œLet us out, or Iโ€™ll kill her!โ€ Terry shouted.

Elizabeth was shocked by Terryโ€™s shamelessness. โ€œTerry, sheโ€™s your wife. Youโ€™ve been together for years!โ€ Elizabeth reminded him. But to Terry, Linda was just a tool for having kids. How sad.

โ€œStop talking and let us out,โ€ Terry demanded. Elizabeth checked her watch. The police should be here by now.

โ€œDr. Percy, please let us go!โ€ Linda cried. Elizabeth was a good person; Linda didnโ€™t want her involved.

Elizabeth looked outside: Amanda and hospital security were there. The crowd had been evacuated. Sirens wailed faintly downstairs; the police had arrived.

Terry heard the noise and sensed trouble. โ€œYou called the cops?โ€ he cursed. Did Terry expect Elizabeth to risk her life without calling the police?

โ€œIt wasnโ€™t me,โ€ Elizabeth said seriously. โ€œYou think Iโ€™ll believe you? You always meddle!โ€ Terry pressed the knife closer to Lindaโ€™s neck.

โ€œLet us go, or Iโ€™ll kill her!โ€ Terry threatened. Elizabeth laughed. Did Terry think threatening her with Linda would work?

โ€œTerry, Linda and I are just acquaintances. Sheโ€™s your wife. Whether you kill her or not has nothing to do with me.โ€ Elizabeth sighed, sitting casually on the bed. โ€œThis is a hospital. Go ahead and kill her; weโ€™ll just resuscitate her.โ€

Terry was stunned; he didnโ€™t expect that. Linda, crying, had blood seeping from her neck.

Frustrated, Terry cursed at Linda, โ€œDiteli, sou? Even the doctor doesnโ€™t care about you now!โ€

Chapter 216

Elizabeth squinted and shouted, โ€œTerry, donโ€™t look down on women. Donโ€™t forget you were born from one.โ€

โ€œNonsense!โ€ Terry cursed. โ€œOr were you born from a rock?โ€ Elizabeth rolled her eyes.

The police arrived outside the door. Terryโ€™s face stiffened. Seeing the police, he finally felt scared.

Elizabeth noticed his panic and said softly, โ€œIf you let Linda go now, we can still talk this out.โ€

The police moved closer, warning, โ€œDrop the knife!โ€ Terry glared at the police, then at Elizabeth. People closing in, Terry pushed Linda onto the bed and lunged at Elizabeth with the knife.

Linda, eyes wide, quickly got up and shielded Elizabeth. The knife plunged into Lindaโ€™s stomach. Blood flowed, but Terry didnโ€™t hesitate as he pulled the knife out.

The police shouted, โ€œStop!โ€ The next second, Terry was pinned to the ground.

โ€œLet go of me!โ€ Terry cursed. Elizabeth grabbed a bedsheet, pressing it against Lindaโ€™s wound. โ€œLinda, donโ€™t be afraid.โ€

Linda clutched Elizabethโ€™s sleeve, shaking her head. โ€œDr. Percy, with you here, Iโ€™m not afraid.โ€ All these years, she had been oppressed until she met Elizabeth at the hospital. Elizabeth was the only one who stood up for her.
