Chapter 290
Elizabeth shifted slightly, and Allenโs hand missed. Allen frowned. โYou dare dodge?โ
โMy parents never hit me. Who do you think you are?โ Elizabeth shot back.
Allen was speechless. She glared at Elizabeth, fuming. โIf I had a daughter like you, Iโฆโ Allen pointed at Elizabeth, trembling.
Elizabeth smirked. โGood thing Iโm not your daughter.โ
Honestly, if she had a mom like Allen, sheโd probably want to jump off a building!
โHey, you!โ Allen was livid.
Henry quietly watched Allen and Elizabeth. He couldnโt help but notice how similar they were, both in looks and attitude. Henry swallowed as Elizabeth walked away without looking back.
Allen, equally furious, stormed into the conference room. They seemed oddly in sync. Henry grabbed Allenโs arm. โMom, donโt you think she looks a bit like you?โ
โWhat?โ Allen, already angry, exploded. โDonโt disgust me!โ She was nothing like Elizabeth!
โHenry, you better find out whoโs spreading rumors about Esmeโs degree being fake!โ Allen ordered, pointing at Henry.
Henry nodded. Heโd investigate. But maybe he should look into something else first.
Elizabeth left the conference room and headed to the cardiothoracic department. Everyone was busy, except for Mark, who was alone in his office.
โDr. Fisher, not busy?โ Elizabeth asked.
Mark glanced up, eyes full of disdain. Elizabeth pouted. โMark really hates rich people. What can I do about being rich? Burn my money?โ
โDr. Fisher, you seem to have a lot of hostility towards me.โ Elizabeth leaned on a chair, smiling.
Mark ignored her, picked up a medical case, and left, slamming the door. Elizabeth snorted. Mark was so petty!
As she was about to return to her workstation, she noticed a medical case on Markโs desk. It was a rare condition. She studied it and realized the handwriting looked familiar. Markโs handwriting was neat, unlike other doctorsโ scrawl. Elizabeth pouted and put the case down.
Before she could sit down, Sunny peeked through the door. โDr. Percy?โ
โHere,โ Elizabeth nodded.
โWhatโs going on?โ Sunny was eager for gossip.
โNo idea.โ Elizabeth shrugged.
Even now, Elizabeth didnโt want to reveal she gave up her spot in medical school for Esme. But thinking about the Russell familyโs attitude, especially Allenโs, she almost wanted to shout, โYes, Esmeโs degree is fake! I gave her my spot!โ But her upbringing told her she couldnโt do that.
โI heard Esme was very emotional when she found out,โ Sunny whispered. โThe doctor gave her a sedative, and sheโs sleeping now.โ
Elizabeth was shocked. โItโs so serious they had to sedate her?โ
โMr. Tudor is waiting outside the ward, really worried about Esme,โ Sunny sighed.
