Chapter 515

Elizabeth sniffed and shot a look at Celine. โ€œHow can you be so chill? Shouldnโ€™t you be super upset? Weโ€™re all family here, and youโ€™re still acting all tough.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not acting tough. I just found a reason to retire. As for that experiment, I canโ€™t be bothered anymore,โ€ Celine replied, leaving Elizabeth stunned.

โ€œGrandma, are you saying youโ€™re not continuing the experiment?โ€ Elizabeth asked, wide-eyed.

Rose looked even more distressed and said, โ€œMom, you ended up like this because of that experiment, and itโ€™s about to yield results.โ€

โ€œThey say itโ€™s about to yield results, but who knows when thatโ€™ll actually happen,โ€ Celineโ€™s voice was raspy and weak.

Elizabeth turned to Rose and Declan, saying, โ€œMom, Dad, itโ€™s getting late. Let me take you home.โ€

She then turned to Grant and said, โ€œGrandpa, Grandmaโ€™s awake. You should get some rest too. Come back to see her tomorrow, okay?โ€

Elizabeth was trying to get her family to leave. If they didnโ€™t, Celine would have to keep holding it together. Celine needed to let her emotions out. The family got the hint and left without any fuss.

Elizabeth closed the door and peeked inside. She walked them to the entrance of the hospital building, constantly reminding Grant to take care of his health, telling him he shouldnโ€™t get sick before Celine got better.

Grantโ€™s heart was a big concern. If he had a heart attack, it could be fatal. Grant just nodded, staying quiet. Elizabeth called a car to take the three of them home.

As Elizabeth turned to head back upstairs, she bumped into Kieran coming out of the elevator.

โ€œElizabeth,โ€ Kieran called out to her right away. Earlier, Kieran had just missed Elizabeth when he went up. Now that they met again, he decided to say hi.

Elizabeth saw Kieran and thought, โ€˜He must be here to see Alexander.โ€™ She knew Kieran and Alexander were close.

โ€œAre you okay?โ€ Kieran asked, looking worried. Elizabeth shook her head and gave a small smile.

โ€œAnd what about your grandma? Is she okay?โ€ When Kieran asked about Celine, Elizabethโ€™s face fell.

Kieran frowned, like he already knew the answer. It seemed Celineโ€™s condition wasnโ€™t good.

โ€œIโ€™m not planning to hide it from you. Everyone will know sooner or later. She has lost feeling in her right hand,โ€ Elizabeth said, her voice cracking.

Kieran was stunned. โ€œHow could this happen? This car accident didnโ€™t seem that serious for everyone else,โ€ he said.

Yeah, it wasnโ€™t serious for everyone else, except for Celine. Celine lost everything in her later years; this was truly cruel to her.

Elizabeth couldnโ€™t imagine how much pain Celine felt when she calmly said those words earlier. Life indeed had many crossroads; some were unavoidable, and some offered no choice.

โ€œItโ€™s really too late today, not convenient for a visit. Elizabeth, Iโ€™ll come to see her tomorrow,โ€ Kieran said politely.

Elizabeth said, โ€œThank you. If youโ€™re busy, itโ€™s okay.โ€

โ€˜Could it be okay?โ€™ Kieran thought; he was definitelyโ€ฆ
