Chapter 553

Henry stepped up, cradling Esme gently. โ€œEsme, Iโ€™m doing this for you. Please, no more mistakes, okay?โ€

Esme could have any guy she wanted, except Alexander. Alexander was never going to be hers.

โ€œEsme, letโ€™s get you out of here for a bit,โ€ Henry said, running his fingers through her hair.

Esme looked really out of it. Her eyes were blank, and she seemed totally lost. Henryโ€™s heart ached for her.

โ€œHenry, I donโ€™t want to go anywhere. I just want to be more composed,โ€ Esme said softly, looking a bit distant.

Henry didnโ€™t want to push her, so he kept quiet. But inside, he was already planning to get her more medical help. She really needed it.

โ€œCome on, letโ€™s go check out the jewelry. Pick anything you like, itโ€™s on me,โ€ Henry said, holding her hand as they walked into the venue.

Just like when they were kids, Henry always held Esmeโ€™s hand. Esme glanced at Henry and felt a sense of safety. She whispered, โ€œThanks, Henry.โ€

Henry looked at her, feeling a mix of emotions. He held her hand tightly, walking beside her.

Inside, Ivan was showing off the jewelry to Elizabeth, with two other young women tagging along.

Ivan crossed his arms, looking at the big screen with the jewelry descriptions. โ€œThese are all from our exclusive designers. What do you think?โ€

โ€œNot bad, but nothing really pops,โ€ Elizabeth said bluntly.

One of the girls next to Elizabeth shot her a look, and Elizabeth continued, โ€œEach piece is nice, but nothing screams โ€˜buy me.โ€™โ€

โ€œTake this one,โ€ Elizabeth pointed to a necklace. โ€œThe diamonds are pretty, but the design is outdated. The price is tempting, but it doesnโ€™t feel worth it, so people pass.โ€

Ivan was taken aback by how much Elizabeth had to say. โ€œAre you into design?โ€ Ivan asked.

Elizabeth blinked. โ€œNot really.โ€

โ€œBut you sound like a pro,โ€ Ivan said.

Elizabeth smiled. โ€œRemember what my mom does? Sheโ€™s a clothing designer.โ€

Ivan nodded, realizing why Elizabeth seemed so knowledgeable.

โ€œThis piece is really โ€˜meh.โ€™ If it were me, I wouldnโ€™t even show it off. Itโ€™s embarrassing,โ€ Elizabeth pointed to another necklace, critiquing it sharply.

One of the girls next to her looked annoyed. โ€œI think this necklace is well-designed.โ€ โ€œThe designer has made some best-sellers,โ€ she added.

Elizabeth noticed the girlโ€™s name tag: โ€œSarah Barnes.โ€ She also saw Sarahโ€™s name on the necklaceโ€™s info card. Now she understood why the girl was defensive.

โ€œNot bad,โ€ Elizabeth said, trying to avoid drama. But Sarah felt Elizabeth was being dismissive. She turned away, saying nothing.

โ€œSarah, you canโ€™t talk to Elizabeth like that,โ€ Ivan said, annoyed.

โ€œBoss, our design is fine,โ€ Sarah shot back.
