Chapter 572
The woman lifted her chin, crossed her arms, and shot Elizabeth a look. โWhy should I tell you?โ
โIโm Elizabeth, the director of this research institute. Iโm in charge of the S12N project. You barged in here, causing a ruckus and lecturing everyone. Donโt I have the right to know who you are?โ
She gave Elizabeth a once-over. โSo, youโre Elizabeth.โ
Elizabeth squinted and tilted her head. Was this woman surprised or disappointed?
The woman pouted. โYouโre nothing special.โ
Elizabeth was at a loss for words. Everyone else in the room turned to stare at the woman. Who was this person? How could she be so full of herself? Even if she were Sheldonโs daughter, she wouldnโt dare to act this high and mighty!
โCome on, letโs talk in my office.โ Elizabeth decided this wasnโt the place for a conversation. She needed to get to the bottom of this.
โAlright.โ The woman smirked and strutted ahead like she owned the place.
Elizabeth was baffled. The woman acted like she was walking into her own home, and Elizabeth was just the help.
People behind them grumbled, โWho does she think she is? Sheโs way too full of herself!โ
โSeriously. I canโt stand her attitude. If we had someone like her in our institute, Iโd quit. I just canโt deal with her!โ
Elizabeth glanced back and signaled everyone to stay calm. After all, she was the one running this place. Anyone who wanted to throw their weight around here had to get her approval first.
When the woman reached Elizabethโs office door, she tried to waltz right in, but the fingerprint lock stopped her cold.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, watching the womanโs back. If she wanted in, sheโd have to let Elizabeth go first.
The woman was silent for a few seconds, then turned to Elizabeth and said, โOpen the door.โ
โSure.โ Elizabeth smiled, still keeping her cool.
Elizabeth stepped forward and scanned her fingerprint. But that wasnโt all; after the fingerprint scan, a high-tech blue light popped up for iris recognition. Only after confirming it was Elizabeth would the door open. Plus, anyone entering her office had to register.
โYou, scan your fingerprint.โ Elizabeth pointed to the scanner.
โWhat if I donโt?โ the woman challenged.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. โNothing much. You just wonโt have a chair to sit on. If you enter my office without registering, the entire instituteโs alarm will go off when you leave.โ
The womanโs expression shifted.
Elizabeth added, โOr do you want the alarms and everyone to give you a grand send-off?โ
The woman huffed and reluctantly scanned her fingerprint. After all, this was the directorโs office, full of confidential documents.
Once inside, Elizabeth went straight to her desk. The woman followed, and Elizabeth asked, โWhatโs your name?โ
โBlair Ember,โ she replied.
Elizabeth looked up and gave her a quick glance. โHow old are you?โ
โ22 years old.โ The woman sat down, arms crossed, looking defiant.
Elizabeth smirked. Just 22, no wonder she was so cocky.
