Chapter 658
Elizabeth didn't arrive at the research institute until after ten in the morning. A sudden, heavy snowfall had caused the city's temperature to plummet. She hugged herself tightly, looking somewhat fatigued.
Blair came in to deliver some documents and clicked her tongue when she saw Elizabeth's haggard face. โYouโre only in your twenties, but you look like youโre in your thirties. I canโt imagine what youโll look like when youโre actually in your thirties,โ she said mockingly as she put down the documents.
Elizabeth really didnโt like Blair, whose chatter was too annoying. โThirty has its own way of living, but no matter how old I am, Iโm no worse off than you,โ Elizabeth said with a cold smile as she opened the documents. โBlair, you should mind your own business and stop worrying about things that donโt concern you.โ
Blair snorted and had nothing more to say.
โIs this the latest research data?โ Elizabeth asked Blair.
Blair nodded.
Elizabeth frowned and took out yesterdayโs data. She hadnโt come to work yesterday, but the data had already been delivered. But the data reports for the two days were exactly the same. Elizabeth spread out the two reports for Blair to see and asked, โWas there no progress at all yesterday?โ
Blair shrugged; she didnโt know. She was just an assistant, doing whatever she was told.
Elizabeth remained silent. She stood up and took the two reports to the research lab. Blair had a feeling that something big was about to go wrong. When Elizabeth got serious, she could be quite intimidating. Even though she was wearing flat shoes, she carried herself with the presence of someone in high heels. Her hair was tied up, making her look efficient and straightforward. She was about to lose her temper.
Elizabeth opened the door to the research lab and heard a group of people chatting inside.
โKennedy showed up yesterday. Did you see her latest design drafts? Iโm so excited.โ
โMe too. I canโt wait for the final product. Iโll buy it no matter the cost!โ
โKennedyโs products are always expensive. Her comeback work will definitely be high-end. Youโll probably have to fight for it. Donโt get your hopes up.โ
It wasnโt until Elizabeth walked over that the group noticed her, still chatting about Kennedyโs new work. Blair cleared her throat. Everyone looked up to see Elizabeth standing behind them with her arms crossed and a stern expression on her face. And their expressions were quite varied.
Some were shocked, some were embarrassed, and some were completely unfazed. Addressing the unfazed one, Elizabeth asked, โWhy is yesterdayโs data the same as todayโs?โ
โThereโs been no progress recently,โ she replied.
Elizabeth asked her, โHave the valuable parts of Serenity Leaf been extracted? Has the integration research begun?โ
The woman opened her mouth, then looked at a man beside her. โJacob Clarke, this is your responsibility. Have the valuable parts of Serenity Leaf been extracted?โ
Elizabeth squinted, thinking they were starting to shift the blame.
Jonah said, โNot yet.โ
Elizabeth looked at them coldly, growing increasingly angry at their nonsense. โSIZN is being watched by many people. Countless families are hoping we can produce good results soon, to give them a bit of hope. Look at what youโre doing.โ She opened the document in her hand and flipped to the beginning of the month. โLook, whatโs the difference between the data from the beginning of the month and the end of the month?โ
Everyone looked helpless. Elizabeth laughed at their helplessness. She slammed the notebook onto the table and yelled, โIf you donโt start doing proper research, Iโll replace every single one of you!โ
Then Jonah was displeased. โElizabeth, we were selected by Celine.โ
