Elizabeth took off her clothes and lay by the bed. She felt Celine's presence, coiled and poised near her. Thara looked at Elizabeth, her eyes filled with an indescribable tenderness. The room quieted down. Elizabeth picked up some fruit and asked Celine, “What did Elara talk to you about?”
Celine smiled. “What else? Of course, it was about the Tudor family’s guilt towards you over the years. I don’t like hearing it.”
Elizabeth looked at Celine with interest and couldn’t help but smile. “Grandma, how could you not like hearing that? I suffered so much in the Tudor family, and now they feel guilty in front of you. You should enjoy hearing it. After all, I’ve finally made a comeback.”
Celine snorted. “You know you suffered in the Tudor family! But you still stayed in the Percy family for three years. I really don’t know what you were thinking! You should have divorced Alexander long ago.”
Elizabeth held the apple in her hand, initially intending to give it to Celine. But feeling guilty and ashamed by Celine’s words, she ended up eating it herself. She was a gambler. She always thought she could win.
Elizabeth sighed, biting the apple, and mumbled, “Alright, Grandma, let’s not talk about the past. Haven’t I come to my senses now?”
“You came to your senses too late. You hurt yourself so much before realizing it! How can a modern woman let herself suffer so much? You should have cut ties immediately!”
Elizabeth nodded emphatically, indicating she understood.
“Grandma, I’m here to talk to you about the Serenity Leaf project,” Elizabeth said, opening her iPad.
Celine was surprised. “What do you mean? Is there new progress?”
Elizabeth nodded. When she showed the data to Celine, Celine’s eyes welled up with tears.
Celine flipped through the data, her eyes filled with disbelief. The success rate was actually BR%.
“There’s no problem with the Serenity Leaf extraction. The SH28 project will soon have new progress,” Elizabeth said, looking at Celine with admiration in her eyes. “Grandma, I finally understand how hard you’ve worked.”
Celine sighed. “Some things just need to be done. What’s hard or not hard about it? There are many people who have it tougher than us, like firefighters and narcotics officers. Those on the front lines, aren’t they facing more difficulties than us?”
Celine lay on the bed, looking at her immobile arm, feeling ashamed. She had hoped to contribute to the country, but now she couldn’t do anything and had become a burden to her family. Celine wasn’t just sad; she was deeply sorrowful. She appeared nonchalant in front of her family, but she had been suffering from insomnia for a long time. No one saw her secretly wiping her tears, and she wouldn’t allow anyone to see it.
“Grandma, I will definitely complete the SH2N project. I won’t let your years of effort go to waste. Trust me,” Elizabeth said, holding Celine’s hand.
Celine smiled at Elizabeth, feeling for the first time that Elizabeth had truly grown up and matured.
“Elizabeth, you’re growing up,” Celine couldn’t help but sigh.
“Grandma, I used to do a lot of things that worried and troubled you. I won’t do that anymore,” Elizabeth said obediently.
She would become the pride of her grandparents and her parents.
