Chapter 20

Outside the room, Lukas answered Emily’s call. “Hello,” he replied coldly.

“Lukas, please don’t marry anyone else. Wait for me,” Emily pleaded, her voice choked with tears.

“It’s too late,” Lukas said, his voice emotionless.

Feeling provoked, Emily shouted, “You’ll regret this, Luke! We’re never getting back together!”

Lukas hung up, his face indifferent. Regret? That word didn't exist in his vocabulary.

He turned and opened the door, walking toward me. I was lost in thought. “Are you ready?” he asked, his voice deep.

I knew what he meant. I looked up into his eyes. “Yes,” I nodded.

Lukas lifted me and carried me into the room, where a bed was strewn with rose petals. He laid me down, the petals scattering around us.

Extremely nervous, I feared he’d notice something was wrong. I closed my eyes, clinging to him tightly.

Lukas hadn't intended to go this far. He'd only been testing me, but Emily's call had strengthened his resolve. After tonight, he wouldn't look back.

He gently kissed my earlobe, causing me to cling to him even tighter. As they were about to become intimate, Lukas felt a barrier.

I tensed, then cried out in pain. “Ah!”

Lukas stiffened, surprised. His eyes darkened. “Is this your first time?”

I turned my head, my voice barely audible. “Yes.”

Chapter 20

I believed in chastity. I’d always planned to marry first, then consummate the marriage. I had no idea Lukas held a different view—that having a boyfriend implied sexual intimacy.

Lukas raised an eyebrow, seemingly forgetting Emily’s call. “Then why didn’t you tell me?” he asked, a hint of pleasure in his voice.

My face flushed crimson. “How could I tell you that?”

Lukas was momentarily stunned, then his lips curved slightly. I was right; there was no easy explanation. He'd figure it out.

He sat up. “I’ll take a shower first,” he declared.

Slightly surprised, I asked nervously, “Aren’t we… continuing?”

Lukas turned, looking at me calmly. “For such a wonderful moment, I’ll give you time to prepare properly. I can’t be careless, especially since it’s your first time.”

He felt an inexplicable tenderness toward me. My heart trembled. Maybe there was more to him than his tough exterior.

The next morning, I awoke to find Lukas already up. After washing my face, I went into the living room and found him watching the financial news.

He looked up. “Come have breakfast. Afterward, I’ll take you to the company.”

I nodded and ate breakfast with him. He was silent during the meal. Afterward, he dropped me off at work, as promised.

I began my revenge plan against my ex-lover, Hugo, and my stepsister, Bella. I worked overtime, creating jewelry designs to further my scheme. Hugo had previously set up a workstation for me, ostensibly to encourage my interest, but actually to exploit my unpaid labor.

I ate little lunch, focusing on my design. At 3:30 PM, I finished, backing up the files. I locked away the original design, leaving a copy on my desk before leaving. [Incomplete sentence, needs context of where she went.]

When I returned, I saw Bella examining my backup design, her eyes shining. I sneered inwardly. Knowing her, she’d try to claim it as her own.

Bella smiled. “Sophia, is this your new design?”

“Yes,” I nodded.

“It’s amazing! Beautifully drawn!” Bella gushed, as if she’d created it herself.

I remained calm, though angry. “Don’t you have anything else to do?” I asked coldly.

“No!” Bella shook her head, humming happily as she left.

Immediately, I received a call from Hugo. “Sophia! Come to my office immediately!” he urged.
