Chapter 26
I immediately adopted a distressed expression. “Hugo, after all these revelations, why are you still blaming me? It seems I can no longer rely on you for justice. After all, we’re married; why would you help me?”
As I spoke, Hugo fumed, ready to attack.
A reporter immediately asked, “Miss Sophia, why did you keep your original design drafts? Bella submitted them for the competition; keeping them seems pointless. If you wanted to sue her, you would have done so in the past two years, wouldn't you?”
I rubbed my eyes, feigning tears. “I kept them as mementos. They were my designs, and I wanted a portfolio. I never imagined they’d be useful in this situation.”
With a more aggrieved tone, I continued, “I never considered suing Bella. I treated her like a sister! I even gave her some drafts. I never imagined she would sue me. I’m hurt!”
Another reporter asked, “Miss Sophia, at the press conference two days ago, you said you believed in Hugo and that your relationship was strong. You didn’t know he was married to Bella then, right?”
With teary eyes, I nodded. “Yes, I said that because I didn’t know the truth. I only found out after a friend sent me photos of them leaving the Civil Affairs Bureau. That’s when I realized I’d been deceived!”
After speaking, I looked at Hugo. His anger was palpable; I feared he might carry me backstage forcefully.
Hugo trembled with rage. Sophia must have known about his marriage; otherwise, she wouldn't have been so prepared. This bitch!
Another reporter interjected, “Miss Sophia, why do you have so many recordings and videos?”
I acted as if maintaining composure, though embarrassed. “I’ve always recorded. Sometimes, I enjoy listening to Hugo’s voice when I’m feeling down. As for the videos, there was a pinhole camera near my seat. Some of my design drafts had gone missing, so I had to do something.”
A sharp-witted reporter guessed, “Hugo and Bella must have taken them. They’ve always stolen your designs!”
I sniffed, feigning sadness, appearing pitiful. “I don’t know. I believed in Hugo, but I never imagined he’d marry Bella and deceive me to steal my designs…”
Wiping away fake tears, I looked at Hugo, who was trembling with anger. “Hugo, I believed in you! I even told everyone we were getting married. Why did you lie to me?” I cried.
Hugo, enraged, jumped up and shouted, “Sophia, you bitch! You knew! I’m going to kill you!”
I backed away; some reporters pulled Hugo back. They took photos and gossiped.
“What a shameless man!” “He disgraces men! He’s not worthy!” “He still wants to attack Sophia! Poor Sophia!”
I couldn’t help but smile. Covering my face, I hurried backstage, feigning extreme distress.
Hugo, breaking free, chased after me.

The backstage was relatively empty, so Hugo quickly caught up. “Don’t think you’ve won, Sophia! This isn’t over! You’re still a designer for Trifleming Jewelry, and as CEO, I’ll sue you into bankruptcy!” He spat, his malice dripping from his words.
I sneered. “Oh, really? I’m trembling with fear!”
I bumped into someone. A deep, hoarse voice said, “Is that so? Then I want to see how you’re going to sue a Strakovski Jewelry designer into bankruptcy!”
