Chapter 33
Luka couldn't describe his feelings upon witnessing the scene in the room. Had he arrived a moment later, I might have been harmed by that man. I slept soundly on the bed, like a child, seemingly unaware of my surroundings. He couldn't believe someone would attempt such a plot in his own home. For some reason, Luka recalled my stubborn and unwavering gaze during our noontime argument. If Sophia had known what transpired, her eyes would have been filled with despair!
He strode to the bed, pulled Gerald off, threw him aside like trash, and quickly adjusted my skirt.
Gerald was stunned. "Who are you? What do you want? Why are you disrupting such a a good moment!"
Luka, a man of over twenty years, believed he'd seen cruelty in all its forms. Yet, he never imagined such a thing could happen to me in my own home. It was terrifying beyond measure.
He turned, his face grim, his entire being radiating a demonic aura. With one hand, he grabbed the belt Gerald had discarded and lashed out.
Gerald cried out in shock. "You can't hit me! I'm the second young master of the Hughes family!" His words did nothing to deter Luka.
Red welts appeared instantly, the only sound the sharp crack of the belt. Gerald screamed and sobbed in pain, cursing, "Why are you hitting me? What the hell are you doing?!" At first, he managed a few curses, but soon only his cries remained.
Luka was a terrifying, chilling figure, a demon from hell. After a merciless whipping, the belt broken, Luka tossed it to the ground. Looking at the battered Gerald, he calmly produced a handkerchief, meticulously wiped his hands, and then tossed the handkerchief onto Gerald's face with disgust.
Outside, Victoria, Olive, and Bella were blocked by Martins. Hearing the screams, Victoria's heart plummeted. She never expected Luka's sudden arrival. Her palms were drenched in sweat. Gerald's beating in their home meant the Jin family wouldn't let this go easily. Furthermore, she had directly offended Luka Stratovski! A cold dread washed over her.
Luka emerged from the room, carrying me in his arms, my body still covered by his suit jacket.
Victoria quickly said, "President Luka, please let me explain! I"
Luka ignored her, instructing Martins, "Check the room for any video equipment. Remove it all!" Then, he passed Victoria, carrying me downstairs.
Victoria panicked, slapping a maid. "Bitch, is this your doing? Sophia dozed off, so I had you take her to bed. How did Gerald Hughes end up in her room?"
The maid, clearly innocent, understood Victoria was taking the blame to avoid confronting Luka Stratovski. She covered her face, tears welling in her eyes, too afraid to speak.
A hint of sarcasm flashed in Luka's eyes. Without Victoria's knowledge, how could this have happened under her very nose?
He turned to Victoria, his expression devoid of emotion. "Leave the man upstairs, dead or alive. Let the Jin family come to me."
Victoria quickly nodded. "Thank you for your understanding, but Sophia is my daughter. Taking her away like this isn't right. Though I was negligent today, almost causing her harm, she is a Lopez family daughter, isn't she?"
Martins returned with three cameras. "President Luka, this is all the recording equipment we found."
Luka hugged me tightly and sneered. "Leave her here for your continued filming?"
Victoria's expression shifted.
Luka looked at her sarcastically, his voice cold. "Don't bother pretending. I'm not easily fooled. You're a truly unique mother-in-law! Sending my wife to another man's bed was enlightening! Don't worry, I'll remember this!"
