Chapter 476

Someone knocked at the door. It was a waiter carrying a tray with two glasses of aura water, designed to replenish energy.

โ€œSir, Miss, the fighter jet experience can be quite draining. To prevent any discomfort when you leave, I highly recommend drinking the aura water,โ€ the waiter said, offering one glass to Shermaine.

Shermaineโ€™s limbs felt weak as she leaned against Joshua. โ€œMr. York, feed it to me.โ€ Whenever she had Joshua around, her lazy streak became particularly pronounced.

โ€œDo you have a straw?โ€ Joshua asked.

โ€œYes, sir.โ€ The waiter left and returned with a straw in the glass.

Joshua held the aura water while Shermaine sipped slowly through the straw. She took a few sips before releasing it.

โ€œYou drink some too,โ€ she said.

Joshua shook his head. โ€œIโ€™m fine, no rush. Sheary, finish your aura water first. Then weโ€™ll go dance for a bit before heading back, okay?โ€

Shermaine nodded.

Joshua truly didnโ€™t seem to need the aura water. He looked perfectly composed and energetic.

Perhaps because Joshua was beside her, Shermaine didnโ€™t notice the flash of nervousness and unease in the waiterโ€™s eyes.

Joshua didnโ€™t look at the waiter. Instead, he said, โ€œPut it down and leave.โ€

The waiter hesitated.

Joshua picked up the glass of water and took a sip.

Only then did the waiter respond, โ€œYes, sir. Have a pleasant evening.โ€ He turned and left immediately.

The aura water worked fast. Within minutes, Shermaine felt her bodyโ€™s vitality returning. Her mental energy recovered too, and the drowsiness that had been creeping in vanished completely.

After taking just one sip, Joshua set down the aura water and focused on helping Shermaine drink hers.

She finished the entire glass.

โ€œIs that enough?โ€ Joshua asked.

Shermaine nodded. โ€œWhat about yours? Why arenโ€™t you drinking?โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t really need it.โ€ Without changing his expression, Joshua poured the remaining aura water from his glass into the trash. โ€œLetโ€™s go.โ€

Seeing this, Shermaine narrowed her eyes as realization dawned. โ€œThere was something in the glass?โ€

โ€œProbably.โ€ Of course, only Joshuaโ€™s glass had been tampered with. Shermaineโ€™s was clean.

Her face instantly paled. โ€œYou already took a sip!โ€

โ€œJust one sip. It wonโ€™t affect me at all.โ€ Joshuaโ€™s constitution was somewhat different from normal people. His recovery ability was exceptional, and something like this couldnโ€™t harm him.

Shermaine quickly checked Joshuaโ€™s condition, taking his pulse to confirm there were no signs of poisoning. Only then did she relax.

Then Shermaine and Joshua walked out hand in hand.

The waiter came in and saw Joshuaโ€™s glass empty of aura water. Assuming heโ€™d drunk it all, the waiter took the glass away without checking.

The ballroom had filled up considerably since Shermaine and Joshua had arrived. People were everywhere, creating a sea of formal wear and glittering jewelry.

Shermaine and Joshua made their way toward the dance floor, fingers intertwined.

Just then, a woman approached from the opposite direction and stepped on Joshuaโ€™s shoe. As she stumbled, the red wine in her hand splashed toward him.

Joshua dodged back, but the wine still splattered across his suit.

โ€œIโ€™m so sorry, sir! Are you alright?โ€ The woman apologized.

Joshua accepted her apology but didnโ€™t take the tissues she offered.

The woman awkwardly pulled her hand back but didnโ€™t leave. She stood there, trying to figure out how to complete her employerโ€™s task of separating the couple.

Shermaine raised an eyebrow but said nothing.

โ€œSheary, I need to go to the restroom,โ€ Joshua said.

The womanโ€™s eyes lit up. If he left, her task would be complete.

โ€œGo ahead, Iโ€™ll wait here for you. Donโ€™t be long,โ€ Shermaine replied.

Joshua leaned down and kissed her. โ€œI wonโ€™t.โ€ He was curious to see what Simon had planned by spiking his aura water.
