Chapter 622

A purple mecha was parked on the rooftop, glistening under the moonlight. All was quiet then, and the city had fallen asleep.

Henry took his coat and draped it over the sleeping Shirley. Then he walked to the other seat of the mecha and sat down. He flattened the backrest and slept till dawn.

When Henry woke up, the sky outside was bright. The coat that had covered Shirley the night before was now on him, and the seat next to him was empty. Henry felt a little annoyed that Shirley had left without a word after waking up.

Henry thought of going out for a smoke, so he opened the cabin door. A gentle breeze blew towards him, carrying the freshness of all things coming back to life.

Then he found that Shirley had not left. She was standing on the rooftop watching the sunrise. Her blonde hair fluttered in the wind, looking very beautiful.

The man looked extremely charming in the sunlight. Though she was quite tall, she was still a head shorter than Henry and a bit thin.

Shirley turned around, raised her eyebrows, and smiled at him. โ€œMorning.โ€

Henry also said good morning to her, his voice a little hoarse from just waking up. He stood beside her, then lit a cigarette. He asked, โ€œDoes your head hurt?โ€

Shirley said, โ€œA little.โ€ This slight pain was totally bearable compared to when she first woke up earlier.

Henry smiled. โ€œHow about your arm?โ€

Shirley looked up at it. โ€œItโ€™s okay. Iโ€™ll go find the doctor to change the dressing later.โ€

Henry took a puff of his cigarette, then lazily exhaled a white cloud of smoke. The smoke rose with the wind and gradually dissipated.

She asked, โ€œWhen do you plan to leave?โ€

โ€œProbably today.โ€ There was nothing left for Henry to do here.

Learning that he was leaving so soon, Shirley suddenly felt a little down. This man was quite interesting. Once he left this time, there was no telling when they would meet again. She nodded without trying to keep him. She asked, โ€œIs this cigarette good?โ€

Henry looked at the cigarette in his hand, then held out the pack. โ€œYou can try it.โ€

Shirley had never seen this brand before. It seemed not to exist in her world. She shook her head. She just wanted a sip, not a whole cigarette. So she took the one Henry had smoked and took a puff. Henry froze for a moment.

The cigarette tasted okay, but she choked. Watching her cough so hard, Henry couldnโ€™t help but laugh. He had thought she was an old smoker. Then he went back into the mecha and got her a bottle of mineral water.

Shirley took the water and gulped it down. After that, the uncomfortable feeling eased. She said to Henry, โ€œIt tastes really bad.โ€

Her eyes were a little red from coughing, which gave her face a seductive look. That handsome face suddenly took on a feminine beauty.

Henry laughed, โ€œYouโ€™re right about that.โ€

Shirley seriously advised, โ€œYou should smoke less, too. Youโ€™re already frigid. If you smoke too much of this stuff, you might not even be able to get an erection.โ€

Henry was speechless. He really wanted to prove to her right then that he was not impotent, just to make her stop mocking him.

He ruffled her hair and said, โ€œWhether Iโ€™m frigid or not has nothing to do with you. Anyway, Iโ€™m not going to fuck you.โ€

Faced with such vulgar words, Shirley just raised her eyebrows. They seemed to have bickered about this topic last night. She kept a straight face and said, โ€œEven if you wanted to, you couldnโ€™t.โ€

Henry let out a cold laugh, annoyed by her. He had no mood to smoke anymore, so he put out the cigarette right away.

Shirley narrowed her eyes. โ€œDid you mess up my hair?โ€

Henry glanced at her. Her smooth, golden, long hair was indeed a bit messy from his rubbing. He said without the slightest guilt, โ€œWhy does a guy like you keep such long hair?โ€

She was not a guy, but Shirley didnโ€™t want to say that. If she did, Henry might keep his distance from her, so being mistaken for a guy was fine.

Shirley put the black string on her wrist into his hand. โ€œTie it up for me.โ€ She ordered Henry confidently, without the least bit of embarrassment. Yet her imperious command didnโ€™t make him dislike her.

โ€œWhy?โ€ Henry asked with a smile.

Shirley said, โ€œI donโ€™t know how.โ€

Henry held the small black rubber band and asked, โ€œThen who tied your hair for you before?โ€

โ€œI donโ€™t know.โ€ Shirley added, โ€œThere was a buddy in the barracks who tied it for me every day.โ€

Henry couldnโ€™t believe that Shirley, who was so good at fighting, didnโ€™t know how to tie her hair.

He lifted her golden, long hair and studied it for a long time. Then he found that tying hair was indeed a bit tricky. It took him about seven or eight minutes to get it done, and it still looked messy.

Shirley didnโ€™t mind much. โ€œSince youโ€™re leaving today, how about treating me to breakfast before you go?โ€

Henry knew she had no money, so he said, โ€œYou go wash up and brush your teeth first.โ€ He walked towards the mecha and said, โ€œGet in.โ€

Damien and Jasmine took Thomas back to Baykeep.

When Thomas opened his eyes, he found that Gracie and George were not there. Then he looked around and realized he seemed to be home. He pouted, extremely sad, and started crying again.

Jasmine had expected his tears. It was better for Thomas to cry at home after waking up than to start crying on the way back. Jasmine began to comfort Thomas.

As for Damien, after returning, he went to the Eagle Assassins first to find out about the recent situation in the Kingdom of Xyperia.

After going out for a while, he learned that the tier mutant and Shirley were now missing.

Damien asked Dave to inform Shermaine of this situation. Dave was not in a hurry to leave. Every time he came back, he needed to replenish some aura stones.

He found the mutants from the Kingdom of Xyperia quite annoying, too. The spatial rift connected to another planet and couldnโ€™t be repaired.

As a Nebula Beast, Dave planned to let the Kingdom of Xyperia solve this trouble on its own. If they hadnโ€™t researched time travel in the first place, there wouldnโ€™t be this kind of trouble.

After calming Thomas down, Jasmine also went to handle official business. There was a lot of backlogged work on his hands.

At this moment, Damien called Henry and asked, โ€œWhatโ€™s the situation with Her Highness?โ€

Henry replied, โ€œI canโ€™t track Edison.โ€ That man was so insane that he wanted to imprison Shirley to force her to be with him. Henry thought this method was extremely despicable.

However, Shirley had a tough character. Edison would never be able to force her to submit. Henry hoped she could find a way to escape and return to the country.

Yet, he had been looking for Shirley for so long with no result. During this time, those old guys who wanted to take power had been causing trouble. Though the political enemiesโ€˜ plots had all been suppressed, he couldnโ€™t hold on much longer.

On the side, Shirley was having breakfast. When she heard the name Edison, she frowned, then felt extreme disgust, and her head started to ache faintly.

Henry noticed her odd expression and couldnโ€™t help but ask, โ€œAre you feeling unwell?โ€

Shirley shook her head. โ€œI hit my head earlier. Itโ€™s a little sore now.โ€

Henry said, โ€œYou can ask the doctor about it when changing dressing.โ€

Shirley nodded.

Her voice was rather neutral. Damien asked Henry, โ€œIs someone beside you?โ€

Henry replied, โ€œYeah. Heโ€™s kind of my brother.โ€

Damien chuckled and said, โ€œYou donโ€™t look for a girlfriend, but youโ€™ve adopted a brother here with us?โ€

Henry said casually, โ€œWhatever. I gotta go. Iโ€™m having breakfast.โ€ He had stayed here for two years but hadnโ€™t found a woman he liked.

Or rather, except for Shirley. She was his type, but he couldnโ€™t pursue her for the time being.

After breakfast, Henry accompanied Shirley to the infirmary to take care of the wound on her arm. He reminded her, โ€œDo you want to ask the doctor about your headache?โ€

Shirley thought about it and said, โ€œNo. The doctor said before that thereโ€™s nothing serious. I just lost a little memory.โ€

Henry raised his eyebrows. โ€œYou also lost your memory?โ€

โ€œYeah,โ€ Shirley said.

โ€œWhat happened?โ€ Henry asked.

Shirley said without hesitation, โ€œI donโ€™t know. I canโ€™t remember.โ€

After getting this answer, Henry didnโ€™t ask any more.

Henry left in the afternoon, and Shirley saw him off. When she returned to the military camp, the regiment commander called her over.

The regiment commander had long wanted to talk to her, but she had been with Henry all the time and didnโ€™t come back last night. So when she got back to the camp, he found her right away.

Shirley sat down in his office. The regiment commander felt a sense of pressure, as if she were the leader.

He cleared his throat. โ€œVivianus, Iโ€™ve seen the video of you piloting the fighter last night. Youโ€™re so skilled. Did someone teach you?โ€

Shirley thought about it and said, โ€œI lost my memory before coming to Aider.โ€

The regiment commander said, โ€œHereโ€™s the thing. I think itโ€™s a waste for someone with your ability to stay here. Thereโ€™s an opportunity right now for you to go to Norham City and join the Black Riders. Would you like that?โ€

Norham City was where the real war was raging. That supremeโ€“tier mutant was too powerful, and the elite stationed there had suffered heavy casualties, so they were in need of reinforcements.

Shirley didnโ€™t mind. Instead, she felt that going to Norham City should be her mission. She was about to agree when she suddenly felt some movement outside. The next second, Henry came in from outside.

Shirley froze for a moment and asked, โ€œWhy are you back?โ€

Henry walked in and said directly, โ€œIโ€™ll explain on the way. Vivianus, youโ€™re coming with me to Norham City.โ€
