Chapter 178
Red said, “I haven't interacted much with Bennett, but his reputation in the circle is very… well, people say he's easy to get along with. My previous intuition must have been wrong? How happy for Nicolas."
“However, people who predict personalities are often two-faced. They just look easy to get along with."
"Huh?" Noelle’s face instantly fell again. She said, "Does that mean Bennett is very difficult to get along with?"
Seeing that Noelle was completely deflated, Nicolas smiled and rubbed her little face.
He replied, "It depends. Since this person cares so much about his image, he definitely needs to maintain a good relationship with you. He wouldn’t act as rashly as Damon, but being sincere isn’t easy for him. People like him probably won’t even be completely true to their family.”
“Tigh," Noelle said silently. "Then I have to make Bennett like me. Moreover, I can’t do so like the way I pestered Charlie."
Nicolas was worried when he saw Noelle. He patted her braid and comforted her, “But don’t worry. Anyway, you have me. I will help you, okay?! We will make Bennett like you."
Thinking of people who were always smiling and whom she couldn’t completely understand, Noelle felt much more at ease after hearing Nicolas’s words. She grinned at him. “Yeah?"
At the Anderson’s house, the brothers returned one after another.
When Eli saw Bennett, he sulked and greeted him, "Bennett, how can a busy person like you be willing to take annual leave?"
Bennett turned around and replied with a smile, “What else can I do? I can’t be working all the time, right?"
Eli laughed twice. Suddenly, he noticed Lela next to Bennett. Why did she come back before him? Feeling that something was wrong, Eli asked with a faint smile, "Bennett, did you come back with Lela?"
"Right," Bennett answered.
Eli asked again, “Did you pick her up from university?"
"Yes, why?" Bennett asked.
"Huh," Eli sneered and said in a slightly yin-yang tone, "I was also in university. Why didn’t you call me along? Am I not worthy!"
At this moment, beside him, Damon frowned and said unhappily, “Eli, calm down. Why are you being so aggressive!"
Eli shook his head and retorted. “Did I say something wrong! He went there. Why didn’t he tell me? Am I not family? Everyone would be sad if this happened.”
Damon said, "Do you have any medicine for me?"
The two brothers started arguing again.
Lela did not expect Eli to be so hostile to her. She bit her lip, feeling aggrieved and resentful, but she did not dare to say anything to Eli. Hence, she whispered to Bennett, "Bennett, I’ll go upstairs. Have a good chat."
Bennett smiled at Lela.
After Lela went upstairs, Bennett patted Eli’s shoulder and said, “Eli, what’s wrong with you? Why are you-"
Eli was still a little angry. He asked, “Bennett, why don’t you ask Lela what she did?"
“What did she do?" Bennett asked.
Chapter 175
“Ever since Noelle returned, she’s become more and more ridiculous! Let’s not talk about anything else. Previously, she was the one who cried and made a fuss and didn’t want Nicolas, right? But when she saw that Nicolas was good to Noelle, she asked Noelle if she could return Nicolas to her. Is this what an elder sister should say? She said it, but she didn’t admit it and even blamed me. It makes me angry just looking at her now!”
“Is that so?” Bennett’s eyes flashed. He said leisurely, “I’ve never heard of this.”
Eli sneered. "There are a lot of things you haven’t heard. Lela did more than this. And she has been targeting Noelle! Do you remember how she had hypocritically asked us to treat everyone equally at the beginning! Now she is the one who bullied Noelle the most!"
Bennett looked at Eli’s disgusted attitude and then at Charlie and Damon beside him.
Charlie was still indifferent. He looked as if he was staying out of it. As for Damon, who had always been the most protective of Lela, although there was still concern in his eyes, he wasn’t as frantic as before. He used to rush after Lela at the slightest movement.
Seeing the changes in his brothers, Bennett thought of something.
He slightly blinked, and a casual smile appeared on his face.
Then, he said to Eli casually, “Well, you can’t blame Lela. Anyone who encounters such a thing will feel a sense of crisis. If Noelle didn’t come back, nothing would have happened.”
