Chapter 0231
Paul adjusted his glasses, his expression giving nothing away.
The next moment, Sam crossed the street and walked toward Miranda. โI was just about to head up and find you. Didnโt expect to run into you here.โ
โIs there something you need?โ Miranda asked.
โYes.โ He nodded, his expression somewhat serious. โCan we talk somewhere else?โ
Miranda glanced at Paul, and Sam followed her gaze, letting his eyes fall on him as well.
โDr. Jefferson, fancy seeing you again,โ Sam greeted him.
Paul replied calmly, โNot really a coincidence. If youโre looking for Miranda, youโre likely to run into me.โ
Sam paused, his eyes narrowing slightly. Paul met his gaze steadily with a calm and composed expression.
โWill half an hour be enough?โ Miranda asked, checking the time on her wristwatch.
โThatโll be enough.โ
โLetโs sit at that cafรฉ across the street,โ Miranda suggested.
This area was full of cafรฉs and restaurants. Since it wasnโt yet time for the evening classes to end, the usual crowd of students hadnโt gathered, making it relatively quiet.
Once they were seated, Miranda got straight to the point. โWhatโs going on? Tell me.โ
Sam began, โWhile investigating those two incidents in the Marvedis, the legal team gathered some evidence that, at the time, couldnโt be definitively linked to our case. Hence, it wasnโt included in the final report.โ
โRecently, while reviewing the files, I stumbled upon something new that I think youโd be interested in.โ
โWhat kind of new information?โ Miranda asked, puzzled.
โTake a look at this,โ Sam said, handing over a report. โCheck the sections Iโve circled in red.โ
Miranda looked confused as she opened the report, but as she read further, her expression grew increasingly serious.
Sam pointed out, โDid you notice? Whether it was the oxygen tank leak or the sudden appearance of the snake in the gift box, based on the feasibility analysis here, Ingrid couldnโt have done it alone. Reviewing the monitoring footage confirms this.โ
Miranda frowned. โYouโre saying Ingrid had help?โ
โAccording to the investigation results, that seems highly likely. But of course,โ Sam continued, rubbing his hands together, โinvestigating this further might not hold much legal weight now.โ
This was because the domestic police had already officially stated they wouldnโt be taking the case.
Sam added, โBut I still chose to tell you. First, you have the right to know everything, and second, as a heads up. Ingrid isnโt simpleโthere may be others helping her. Unless absolutely necessary, itโs best to avoid contact with her. Also, stay vigilant and be cautious of your surroundings. If anything happens, call me anytime. Iโm always available.โ
He spread his hands and shrugged, a carefree attitude on display. Miranda couldnโt help but laugh.
โMr. Cooper, with all your important work, I wouldnโt dare disturb you too often.โ
โI am busy, but Iโd gladly make time for you. In fact,โ Sam said, his eyes meeting hers with a steady intensity, โonly you have that privilege. No one else gets that.โ
Mirandaโs smile faltered slightly, and she responded more seriously, โThank you for telling me all this. I appreciate it.โ
Sam gave a small smile. โItโs no trouble becauseโฆโ He enunciated each word, โI want to.โ
Feeling the intensity of his gaze, Miranda looked away, suddenly feeling shy. โItโs getting late. I should head back.โ
โAlright,โ Sam agreed, standing up and grabbing his jacket. โIโll walk you back.โ
As they crossed the street, Samโs gaze suddenly froze.
Paul was still standing in the same spot. He looked as if he hadnโt moved at all.
