Chapter 0231

Paul adjusted his glasses, his expression giving nothing away.

The next moment, Sam crossed the street and walked toward Miranda. โ€œI was just about to head up and find you. Didnโ€™t expect to run into you here.โ€

โ€œIs there something you need?โ€ Miranda asked.

โ€œYes.โ€ He nodded, his expression somewhat serious. โ€œCan we talk somewhere else?โ€

Miranda glanced at Paul, and Sam followed her gaze, letting his eyes fall on him as well.

โ€œDr. Jefferson, fancy seeing you again,โ€ Sam greeted him.

Paul replied calmly, โ€œNot really a coincidence. If youโ€™re looking for Miranda, youโ€™re likely to run into me.โ€

Sam paused, his eyes narrowing slightly. Paul met his gaze steadily with a calm and composed expression.

โ€œWill half an hour be enough?โ€ Miranda asked, checking the time on her wristwatch.

โ€œThatโ€™ll be enough.โ€

โ€œLetโ€™s sit at that cafรฉ across the street,โ€ Miranda suggested.

This area was full of cafรฉs and restaurants. Since it wasnโ€™t yet time for the evening classes to end, the usual crowd of students hadnโ€™t gathered, making it relatively quiet.

Once they were seated, Miranda got straight to the point. โ€œWhatโ€™s going on? Tell me.โ€

Sam began, โ€œWhile investigating those two incidents in the Marvedis, the legal team gathered some evidence that, at the time, couldnโ€™t be definitively linked to our case. Hence, it wasnโ€™t included in the final report.โ€

โ€œRecently, while reviewing the files, I stumbled upon something new that I think youโ€™d be interested in.โ€

โ€œWhat kind of new information?โ€ Miranda asked, puzzled.

โ€œTake a look at this,โ€ Sam said, handing over a report. โ€œCheck the sections Iโ€™ve circled in red.โ€

Miranda looked confused as she opened the report, but as she read further, her expression grew increasingly serious.

Sam pointed out, โ€œDid you notice? Whether it was the oxygen tank leak or the sudden appearance of the snake in the gift box, based on the feasibility analysis here, Ingrid couldnโ€™t have done it alone. Reviewing the monitoring footage confirms this.โ€

Miranda frowned. โ€œYouโ€™re saying Ingrid had help?โ€

โ€œAccording to the investigation results, that seems highly likely. But of course,โ€ Sam continued, rubbing his hands together, โ€œinvestigating this further might not hold much legal weight now.โ€

This was because the domestic police had already officially stated they wouldnโ€™t be taking the case.

Sam added, โ€œBut I still chose to tell you. First, you have the right to know everything, and second, as a heads up. Ingrid isnโ€™t simpleโ€”there may be others helping her. Unless absolutely necessary, itโ€™s best to avoid contact with her. Also, stay vigilant and be cautious of your surroundings. If anything happens, call me anytime. Iโ€™m always available.โ€

He spread his hands and shrugged, a carefree attitude on display. Miranda couldnโ€™t help but laugh.

โ€œMr. Cooper, with all your important work, I wouldnโ€™t dare disturb you too often.โ€

โ€œI am busy, but Iโ€™d gladly make time for you. In fact,โ€ Sam said, his eyes meeting hers with a steady intensity, โ€œonly you have that privilege. No one else gets that.โ€

Mirandaโ€™s smile faltered slightly, and she responded more seriously, โ€œThank you for telling me all this. I appreciate it.โ€

Sam gave a small smile. โ€œItโ€™s no trouble becauseโ€ฆโ€ He enunciated each word, โ€œI want to.โ€

Feeling the intensity of his gaze, Miranda looked away, suddenly feeling shy. โ€œItโ€™s getting late. I should head back.โ€

โ€œAlright,โ€ Sam agreed, standing up and grabbing his jacket. โ€œIโ€™ll walk you back.โ€

As they crossed the street, Samโ€™s gaze suddenly froze.

Paul was still standing in the same spot. He looked as if he hadnโ€™t moved at all.
