Chapter 0298
Evelyn sputtered, โWhat?โ
โIf youโre not pregnant, why are you drinking the chicken soup? It doesnโt seem right to compete with a pregnant woman for food, right?โ Ingrid asked.
โThereโs a whole pot of soup. Do you think you can finish it all by yourself?โ Evelyn thought Ingrid must not be in her right mind. How could she say something so ridiculous?
โI can finish it.โ
โWhat exactly are you trying to say?โ
Ingrid dropped the pretense. โSince you made the chicken soup for me, it would be best if no one else drinks it. Donโt you agree?โ
โFine.โ Evelyn slammed the bowl down with a cold smile and said, โTake your time and enjoy the soup, then!โ After saying that, she turned and left.
Ingrid raised an eyebrow smugly. She sneered in disgust after glancing at the two bowls of soup on the table. She got up and went to her room without touching them.
โWhy didnโt you drink the soup?โ Evelyn demanded.
Ingrid yawned as if she had just woken up from a nap. โI suddenly donโt feel like drinking it. Is that a problem?โ
โYouโฆโ
โMrs. Johnson, could you knock before entering my room next time? You suddenly showing up like this might scare the baby in my belly.โ
Evelyn was at a loss for words.
That evening, Ingrid sat in the living room, watching television.
Evelyn suggested that she move around and take a walk around the garden, as it would be good for the baby. However, Ingrid ignored her.
โMrs. Johnson, since you seem to be free, why donโt you go and buy me some meatballs? I want to eat meatballs from Luckyโs Meatballs at Westside. Their meatballs are the best.โ
Evelyn looked out the large window. The sky was pitch black.
It would take at least 50 minutes to reach Westside, and the round trip would take nearly two hours. The shops would be closed by then! Even if they were still open, the meatballs would have gone cold.
Evelyn suggested, โTheyโre probably closed at this hour. If you want to eat meatballs, Iโll get Martha to make some for you at homeโฆโ
Ingrid spoke slowly, โBut home-cooked meatballs donโt taste as good as the store-bought ones. The shop closes at 11:00 pm. If you go now and get in line, you should still make it in time.โ
Evelyn wasnโt happy with the idea. Getting her to line up for meatballs late at night? What an absurd idea!
Chapter 0230
โDo you think I want to eat it?โ Ingrid asked. โItโs the baby who wants to eat it, not me. If you donโt go, fine. But I definitely wonโt be able to go to sleep if I donโt get to eat it tonight.
โIf I canโt sleep, itโs your grandchild who will be affected. The doctor also said that I should avoid any stress and keep myself from being too agitatedโฆโ
Evelyn replied, โIโll get Dan to go, or we can just use a delivery service. It wouldnโt cost much.โ
Ingrid blinked innocently and said, โBut my baby said he specifically wants to eat meatballs bought by his grandmother. What do we do?โ
Evelyn was speechless at Ingridโs words.
Ingrid sighed with a disappointed expression. โWell, forget it. Thatโs just how it is for a child who isnโt loved. Oh, my stomach seems to be hurting againโฆโ
โFine!โ Evelyn said through gritted teeth, the muscles in her face twitching from holding herself back. โI will go and buy them!โ
She called Dan angrily, "Go to Westside."
Ingrid said with a smile, โSarah, can you wash a plate of cherries for me?โ
Then, she turned to Martha. โMartha, I heard you're a great cook. Iโd like to have some meatballs. Could you make me some?โ
Martha frowned. โBut Mrs. Johnson just went out to buy someโฆโ
โHow long will that take for her to return? I want to eat them now!โ
โShould I call Mrs. Johnson and ask her to come back? Since thereโs no need to buy them anymore.โ
Ingrid sneered, โYou donโt need to call her. I want to try both homemade and store-bought ones.โ
Martha was at a loss for words. This was madness!
Evelyn didnโt have a pleasant trip. A heavy rainstorm started on the way, and the meatball store was in a deep alley. She had to walk in and stand in line!
When she finally bought them and got home, the living room was pitch black. Sarah told her that Ingrid had already eaten and gone to bed half an hour ago after saying she was tired.
Evelyn was so angry that she threw the takeout box to the floor. โThat little bitch! She was determined to teach her a lesson sooner or later!"
The meatballs spilled everywhere and rolled across the floor, creating a chaotic mess.
Martha could only sigh in resignation. She also felt tired.
The next day, Ingrid claimed she had lost her appetite recently and wanted to eat something more flavorful.
So, Evelyn prepared a cup of honey lemon tea for Ingrid using gourmet honey. She even cooked a pot of lentil soup with beans to nourish her body.
Chapter 0208
However, Ingrid took one sip and immediately spat it out. โWhat kind of soup is this for a pregnant woman? I said I wanted something flavorful. Is this it? This is nothing but a bowl of beans!โ
