Chapter 0300

A tall figure walked out as Christine finished speaking.

Miranda was stunned when she saw who it was.

Christine said, โ€œLet me introduce you to Sam Cooper, Dr. Sanchezโ€™s student.โ€

Sam extended his hand to Miranda with a smile. โ€œMiranda, nice to meet you.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re Dr. Sanchezโ€™s student?โ€ Miranda asked with astonishment.

โ€œWhy? Do I not seem like it?โ€

โ€œNot exactlyโ€ฆโ€

Christine glanced between the two of them. โ€œDo you two know each other?โ€

Sam nodded. โ€œYes, we do.โ€ In fact, they had known each other for quite some time.

โ€œWell, thatโ€™s great. Since weโ€™re all familiar with each other, why donโ€™t youโ€”โ€

Sam answered, โ€œThank you, Dr. Young. Iโ€™ll be happy to stay for dinner tonight."

Miranda had originally planned to stay for dinner before leaving.

Olivia had prepared a table full of food, including two of Mirandaโ€™s favorite dishes. Whether intentional or not, Sam let Miranda take a seat closest to her two favorite dishes when they sat at the table. Meanwhile, he took a seat nearby.

Christine raised an eyebrow at this.

However, Miranda saw it as mere coincidence and didnโ€™t read more into it. She just felt that Olivia was being really thoughtful to prepare her favorite dishes for dinner!

โ€œSam, how old are you?โ€ Christine suddenly asked.

Sam replied, โ€œIโ€™m 28 this year.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re already running an investment company at 28 years old. Thatโ€™s quite impressive.โ€

Sam waved it away humbly. โ€œYouโ€™re too kind. I managed to get the company running thanks to my familyโ€™s support. Itโ€™s only in the past two or three years that the company found its footing. Compared to running a business, I admire dedicated researchers like you and Dr. Sanchez more. You immerse yourselves in experiments day in and day out, year after year. You had to endure solitude and monotony in pursuit of the mysteries of academia and scientific truths, dedicating your lives to research.โ€

โ€œSuch a life isnโ€™t lonely or monotonous for those who love research. Isnโ€™t that right, Mimi?โ€ Christine asked.

โ€œYes.โ€ Miranda nodded.

There were no workplace politics nor pressures from society. Life in the lab was simple and straightforward, a place that made her feel at ease. At least, it was like that for her and Christine.

Chapter 0301

In reality, Sam wasnโ€™t much help in the kitchen.

Not only were his actions clumsy, but he also squeezed dish soap onto every single plate and bowl. When Miranda gave him a pointed look, he asked innocently, โ€œIsnโ€™t this how youโ€™re supposed to wash them?โ€

Miranda was at a loss for words.

Sam cleared his throat. โ€œMaybe you could teach me if you donโ€™t mind? Back when I was abroad, I only used one or two plates when cooking for myself, so Iโ€™d just squeeze a bit of soap on each one.โ€

โ€œWell, thereโ€™s no fixed way to wash dishes, and thereโ€™s no single right way to use dish soap. Everyone has their own method, and itโ€™s fine as long as the dishes are clean. Howeverโ€ฆโ€

Miranda paused for a moment before continuing, โ€œFrom the standpoint of being conservative, itโ€™s better to squeeze soap into some water and mix it. Then, use a sponge to wash the dishes. After that, rinse them with clean water, let them air dry, and put them away.โ€

โ€œIs that so?โ€ Sam listened carefully and followed her instructions.

Just as he was about to dilute the dish soap with water, Miranda suddenly said, โ€œWait.โ€

Sam was slightly taken aback.

โ€œUse hot water,โ€ she spoke.

โ€œOh, alright!โ€

They stayed back a little longer after tidying up. Both of them bid goodbye to Christine as it got late.

โ€œI drove here. Let me give you a ride,โ€ Sam offered.

Miranda didnโ€™t refuse since the subway had already stopped running at this time. โ€œThank you, Mr. Cooper.โ€

When both of them got into the car, Sam said, โ€œIf you donโ€™t mind, Iโ€™d prefer if you call me by my name instead. Or would you prefer Cooper?โ€

โ€œAlright, Mr. Cooper.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re doing this on purpose, arenโ€™t you?โ€

Miranda feigned innocence. โ€œIโ€™ve gotten used to calling you that. Itโ€™s hard to change at once.โ€

โ€œFine, call me whatever you want,โ€ Sam sighed. He was sure he could make her willingly change how she addressed him sooner or later.

Half an hour later, the car pulled up at the campus main road.

Miranda said, โ€œJust drop me off at the main entrance of Bedford College.โ€

โ€œArenโ€™t you going back to your place?โ€

โ€œI need to stop by the lab. There are two sets of data that havenโ€™t come out yet, so Iโ€™ll have to work."
