“Hello, is this a family member of Ingrid York? This is the maternity ward of Westerton Hospital. Ms. York, she…”

Evelyn knew it was a call from the hospital before the nurse could finish her introduction. Ingrid was most likely up to no good again.

She interrupted the nurse immediately, “She’s having another episode, right? Is she making a scene again? You don’t need to call me. If she wants to end her life, let her die far away from me. Don’t bother me!”

With that, Evelyn hung up.

Hmph! How annoying could Ingrid be, pulling the same tricks all the time?

Evelyn was well aware that Ingrid’s leverage came from the baby in her belly. Even if she had the nerve, Ingrid wouldn’t be so reckless as to actually harm the unborn child, no matter what.

After Evelyn understood this, she felt like all the grievances she had endured before were for nothing. In fact, she deliberately took Martha, Sarah, and Dan away to teach Ingrid a lesson. She wanted to let Ingrid experience some hardship without having anyone to serve her!

At that thought, Evelyn patted the face mask on her cheeks and hummed a tune happily.

The two nurses exchanged glances at the nursing station. They were at a loss for words. One finally sighed, “I guess there’s no happy ending for mistresses.”

Ingrid had been admitted to hospital for two days now. During this time, she was rushed into surgery again due to uncontrollable bleeding.

Her face was as pale as a ghost when she was finally wheeled out. Although her eyes were open, she couldn’t speak a word. The bleeding had caused a serious infection. She suffered great pain, but the only person taking care of her was a hired caregiver.

Ingrid tried to contact Hansel and Evelyn repeatedly, but to no avail. She asked the nurses to help contact them, yet the result was similar. They had completely abandoned her!

Her physical discomfort and pent-up emotions made her even more irritable and sharp-tongued. All the staff at the nursing station were miserable, but they had to grit their teeth and endure it. After all, Ingrid was a patient staying in the VIP ward.

Evelyn only found out about the loss of the child three days later. She was momentarily stunned when she received a call from Tina.

The child was gone? How could it be?

She had been admitted to hospital so many times before, so why did she lose the child this time?

“Mom, you can stop thinking about the 500 million dollars. Just take what we’re supposed to get,” Tina said.

Evelyn felt a little disappointed, both for the loss of the 500 million and the grandson she had been hoping for.

Evelyn suddenly realized she had been thinking about Miranda quite often, especially during the time she had to serve Ingrid. Without comparison, there was no harm done.
