The commotion in the lobby quickly caught the attention of the ladies gathered in the private room. They saw Evelyn being yanked by the hair while Lucy, in a furious grip, shouted insults.

This was about to get interesting. The ladies looked at each other and exchanged knowing glances.

Seeing the crowd gather, Lucy became even more excited. “Everyone, take a good look. This woman’s son toyed with my daughter’s feelings, got her pregnant, and now he’s dodging his responsibilities.

“My daughter was a pure, innocent girl, and now her whole life is ruined. And Evelyn thinks she can hide from me? Does she think I’m nobody? Don’t underestimate someone just because they’re quiet.”

As she spoke, she rolled up her sleeves. “Everyone, use your phone to record this and post it online. Let the world see what the Johnson family really is. And you, Evelyn, what kind of mother are you? And your worthless son is just an irresponsible scumbag.”

Franklin blocked the hotel staff while pulling out his phone to record Evelyn. He snapped photos and shouted, “You brought this on yourselves. The Johnsons are shameless, and your son refuses responsibility for getting my sister pregnant. If we’re suffering, don’t think you’ll get to enjoy life.”

Evelyn quickly raised her hands to cover her face as she tried to avoid Lucy’s grip. At that moment, she wasn’t just overwhelmed but utterly flustered. She was caught in a chaotic struggle to cope with the situation.

“Stop recording! Ingrid’s lack of self–respect has nothing to do with my son. I’ve always taken great care of her. She brought this upon herself and had a miscarriage.

“Let me go. If you guys keep making trouble, I’ll call the police.”

Even after hearing that, Lucy didn’t flinch. With her hands on her hips, she let out a mocking laugh. “Go ahead and report it. Let the police sort this out and see who is wrong.

“Besides, I’m just a country bumpkin and willing to risk my reputation. I wonder if you wealthy folks can do the same.”

Evelyn froze as if that last statement had hit her in the gut.

Lucy continued, “If you don’t give us an explanation today, you’re not leaving. Frankie, hold her.”

Evelyn stammered, “You… you dare…”

Franklin put his phone away and smirked devilishly. “Oh, I would.”

“Get away! Don’t touch me!” Evelyn screamed.

Dan and the security guard arrived just in time as they pulled Evelyn away from Franklin’s grasp. They shielded her as she climbed into the car and drove off.

“Mom, she ran away. What do we do now?” Franklin asked.

Lucy narrowed her eyes and snorted. “She can run but can’t hide forever. Let’s return to the hospital.”

“The hospital smells terrible. Can’t we stay somewhere else?” He felt like he was soaked in disinfectant.

“Changing places costs money. Just hang in there. Once we get the compensation, you can stay in any five–star hotel.”

“You’re right.” Franklin smiled broadly and showed a set of gleaming white teeth. “My sister has a knack for picking the right man.”

He could tell Evelyn came from a wealthy family.

A project down south hit a snag, so Hansel was there for a week. During that time, he only answered work calls and set his personal phone to “Do Not Disturb.” Hence, nobody could reach him.

He finally returned when the workload at the company piled up, and they needed his signature to proceed. As the plane touched down, he took out his phone and turned off the “Do Not Disturb” mode.

Within two minutes, Evelyn’s call came through.
