Chapter 35
โYou have a good memory. I remember thereโs a book in this series that specifically talks about genetic testing. How come I canโt find it anymore?โ
Miranda didnโt have a photographic memory, but she tended to remember key points. She remembered seeing this book in the library a couple of days ago. Turning to the bookshelves, she quickly scanned them. Her eyes lit up. โDr. Young, are you talking about this book?โ
Christine peered at the cover. โThatโs right! You sure have a keen eye. Iโve been searching for hours, and it was right under my nose the whole time!โ
โSolomon, come here. This book, combined with your thesis reference materials, should be enough for you. Take this first. Iโll continue looking for other books you could use.โ
โThank you, Dr. Young.โ Solomon reached for the book.
Heโd been preparing for his masterโs thesis. Some reference materials were incomplete, and heโd heard Christine had the original source text, so heโd stopped by early that morning.
Only then did Christine think to introduce them. โMimi is my student, and sheโll be my student again soon.โ "former" was removed as it didn't fit the context)
Solomon was shocked. It took him a moment to regain his composure. โIs she going to be taking the postgraduate admission exams to study under you?โ
Christine laughed and said to Miranda, โThis is Solomon Hall. Heโs in his second year of his masterโs program and is preparing for his PhD. You two could be study buddies.โ
Miranda nodded slightly. โItโs nice to meet you, Solomon. Iโm Miranda Sutton.โ
Solomon realized she was one of Christineโs students. He took out his phone and exchanged numbers with Miranda.
โThis is great! We can meet up at the library. If we have any questions about bioinformatics, we can discuss them.โ
After a brief conversation, Solomon left for class.
Miranda noticed the croissants on the table. She went to the kitchen and served them on a plate.
Christine smiled. โI havenโt had these in a long time. Did you go out of your way to buy these?โ
This croissant bakery was an established brand. Having become famous, it had become difficult to buy its pastries. Miranda didnโt mention that sheโd waited in line. She simply said, "The bakery is so far away, and thereโs always a line, so I got you some."
โNext time, just bring yourself. I donโt need anything else."
Miranda held Christineโs arm. "Quickly," she said.
Christine gently patted her head. โAlright, darling. There are a couple of papers I want you to do.โ
โDid you ask me to come here just to watch me work?โ
โEnough yapping. Iโm here to push you to study.โ
โAlright, Iโll get to it now.โ
Christine smiled as she watched Miranda work. Miranda spent the day at Christineโs place, preparing a meal for her. After cleaning up the kitchen, she went home.
That night, Miranda was studying when she received a text from Solomon: โAre you going to the library tomorrow?โ
After considering, Miranda replied, โYes.โ
The next morning, when Miranda arrived at the library, Solomon was waiting at the entrance.
โHave you eaten? I brought you some breakfast.โ Solomon had stopped by the cafeteria and bought an extra serving.
Miranda thanked him. She ate quickly, and then they entered the library together.
Solomon had already reserved a study spot. Just as Miranda was about to enter, someone else arrived first. It was Ingrid and her roommate, Abigail Norton.
