Listen to this chapter:

โ€œWoahโ€ฆโ€

A collective gasp filled the large classroom.

โ€œPaul Jefferson? Is it the Paul Jefferson Iโ€™m thinking of?โ€

โ€œUh! How many Paul Jeffersons are there at Bedford College?โ€

โ€œWell, okay.โ€

โ€œOh my God! Heโ€™s the one teaching us? Heโ€™s so tall and handsome!โ€

Everyone was captivated by the sight. People are naturally drawn to beautiful things, appreciating and admiring them.

Madison was no exception, but the more she looked at the professor, the more familiar he seemedโ€ฆ

โ€œWait a second, Miranda, isnโ€™t that the guy who stopped you outside the cafeteria the other day?โ€

โ€œMm-hmm.โ€

โ€œNo wayโ€”heโ€™s Paul Jefferson?โ€

Miranda seemed puzzled. โ€œYou didnโ€™t recognize him? He was one of the interviewers during the graduate admissions.โ€

โ€œHuh?โ€ Madison scratched her head. โ€œHe wasnโ€™t there when I was interviewed. The only professor I recognized was Sophie.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s strangeโ€ฆ When I had my interview, Sophie wasnโ€™t there. Were you interviewed in the morning or afternoon?โ€

โ€œAfternoon,โ€ Madison replied.

โ€œWell, that explains it. I was interviewed in the morning.โ€

โ€œOhโ€ฆโ€

Miranda suddenly paused, a thought crossing her mind. If she remembered correctly, Tina had also been interviewed in the afternoon and had even asked her about the interview questions.

It was odd that Sophie wasnโ€™t present in the morning but was in the afternoon.

Coupled with the recent news of Sophieโ€™s team purchasing a new CPRT measurement device, Tinaโ€™s reason for being recruited by Sophie became quite obvious.

Ahโ€ฆ So, she was the walking ATM.

On the platform, Paul finished his brief self-introduction and prepared to begin the lesson.

He wore a light gray shirt that day, with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose. The glasses softened his gaze, giving him an air of gentleness.

Just standing there, his whole demeanor radiated elegance.

โ€œDr. Jefferson, may I ask you a question?โ€ Suddenly, a student from the audience raised their hand.

Paul replied, โ€œSure.โ€

โ€œYouโ€™re quite famous and accomplished, Dr. Jefferson,โ€ the student began with flattery. โ€œBut since youโ€™re from the Physics Department, are you qualified to teach us Bioinformatics?โ€

Paul responded calmly, โ€œFirst, thank you for the compliment. I originally came from the Faculty of Bioinformatics but switched to Physics later on.โ€

โ€œBefore the administration assigns substitute professors, they conduct evaluations to ensure the professor is competent. So, you donโ€™t need to worry about my expertiseโ€”I assure you, Iโ€™m qualified.โ€

His final remark made the whole class laugh. Even Miranda couldnโ€™t help but smile.

Paul continued, โ€œSecond, as graduate students, your focus should be on developing research thinking and logical reasoning, rather than simply absorbing knowledge.โ€

โ€œThis is a crucial step in your academic journeyโ€”learning to approach problems from a research perspective, rather than just relying on teachers to spoon-feed you information."

"In that sense, the approach to thinking transcends disciplines, whether itโ€™s Physics, Biology, or another field. And thatโ€™s the most important thing I can teach youโ€ฆโ€

โ€œDr. Jefferson! I have another questionโ€”are you single?โ€

It seemed every young and attractive professor faced this inevitable question.

Paul glanced at the student who asked and replied mildly. โ€œToo many questions will delay the class. Weโ€™ll discuss that later.โ€

โ€œToday, letโ€™s cover the role and significance of big data in the development of Bioinformatics, and the relationship between the twoโ€ฆโ€

The class flew by.

Paul didnโ€™t finish his lecture, but as soon as the bell rang, he neatly closed his book. โ€œClass dismissed.โ€

Then, after gathering his things, he left without hesitation.

โ€œWowโ€”heโ€™s so cool!โ€ Madison exclaimed.

Miranda quickly stood up and grabbed her bag. โ€œMadi, Iโ€™ve got something to do. I wonโ€™t be joining you for lunch today.โ€
