Chapter 122 Drop The Lawsuit

โ€œYou can head back now. Iโ€™ll be attending the companyโ€™s anniversary celebration tonight,โ€ Nathaniel said impatiently.

โ€œAll right.โ€ Stella cast a smug glance at Cecilia before leaving the breakfast table.

When Nathaniel turned, Cecilia was standing behind him. He felt a pang of guilt. โ€œWhen did you wake up?โ€

Ceciliaโ€™s expression was calm. โ€œWhen Stella proposed. Congratulations to you both.โ€

Nathanielโ€™s heart tightened. The room seemed to freeze. He looked at her intently. โ€œIf you have any objections, say them now.โ€

All she needed to do was tell him not to marry Stella, and he would have agreed. But Cecilia shook her head. โ€œCongratulations. Iโ€™ll cooperate with the divorce proceedings, but on one conditionโ€”you give Elliot back to me.โ€

Nathanielโ€™s heart sank. He realized Cecilia didnโ€™t care about him; she wasnโ€™t concerned about his marriage. He felt deeply irritated, though he couldn't understand why. He coughed, then tossed Stellaโ€™s breakfast in the trash.

โ€œOrder whatever you want,โ€ he said, leaving for his study.

Cecilia realized his naivetรฉ. Did he really think Iโ€™d eat what Stella sent?

After eating breakfast, she texted Nathaniel: Iโ€™m heading to the office.

Nathaniel waited in his study, hoping for a tender word from Cecilia, but received only her short message. His face darkened.

He found sheโ€™d already left. The kitchen was empty; she hadnโ€™t made him breakfast. A deep ache settled in his stomach and head. He asked the driver to bring him some.

At the office, Cecilia saw a missed call from an unfamiliar number on her overseas card. It was from Tudela. She didn't return the call, instead asking someone to identify the number's owner. It was Stella.

Given Stellaโ€™s recent plagiarism scandal, Cecilia understood the callโ€™s purpose.

Soon, her phone rang. Using a foreign IP address and a disguised voice, she answered.

โ€œHello.โ€

โ€œIs this Ms. Cecille? Iโ€™m Stella. I want to talk about โ€˜Ray of Light in the Dark.โ€™ An employee unknowingly included your work. Can we discuss resolving this so you might drop the lawsuit?โ€ Stellaโ€™s tone was overly polite.

โ€œDrop the lawsuit? Simple,โ€ Cecilia replied calmly. โ€œFirst, apologize to my lawyer. Then, publicly admit to the plagiarism.โ€

โ€œI can apologize, but I canโ€™t admit to plagiarism. How much money do you want? Iโ€™ll pay whatever it takes,โ€ Stella said, knowing an admission would end her career.

โ€œThen get ready for an international lawsuit,โ€ Cecilia said, ending the call. There was no point in prolonging the conversation.

Stella, furious, threw her phone aside.
