Chapter 212: No Need for Your Tricks
Cecilia sneered inwardly. Why hadn't Stella mentioned her numerous false accusations? Stella's hands were stained crimson. After Nathaniel helped her into the car, he drove away. As they left, Stella shot Cecilia a triumphant glance. "See? Between you and me, Nathaniel will only choose me."
Cecilia felt no distress. Instead, she hoped Stella would quickly become involved with Nathaniel, hoping Stella would be the reason Nathaniel spared Elliot and her.
In the ambulance, Nathaniel's expression was unreadable. "What brings you to Daltonia Villa at this hour?"
"I was scared and alone in the hospital. I wanted to see you."
Even severely wounded, she couldn't hold onto Nathaniel. She feared he would stop caring. That day's events only deepened her suspicions. Nathaniel's brows furrowed.
"Don't come to Daltonia Villa again."
Stella choked. "Why? Is it because of Cecilia? A woman like her is not worth your..."
Nathaniel interrupted, "Cecilia is my wife!"
Stella's face drained of color. "What about me? Over the years, I've given so much for you. I've waited eight years."
"I will make it up to you." With an emotionless expression, Nathaniel called a renowned director, securing Stella the lead role in a drama series, in front of her. "As long as I'm around, you'll never lose your fame. There's no need for those petty tricks."
Stella realized Nathaniel had seen through her manipulations. Fear filled her eyes; she dared not ask him to marry her again.
Previously, Stella's plagiarism of foreign songs had caused a major online uproar. However, her connection with Nathaniel quickly resolved the issue. Endorsement offers continued to pour in, her popularity unaffected. That night, Nathaniel didn't return to Daltonia Villa.
The next day, Cecilia saw online that Stella had secured another leading role, this time with a renowned director, and endorsements from several major brands. Vivian called, frustrated.
"What kind of luck is she riding on? How does she keep getting these high-profile endorsements after the plagiarism scandal? And Wade Wailstorm, a renowned filmmaker internationally, chose her, a woman with no acting skills?"
Stella had staged a pitiful scene the previous night, and already secured endorsements and a leading role. Was there something Cecilia didn't understand?
"Vivian, do you know Nathaniel always believed Stella saved his mother and Zachary?"
Vivian was stunned. "How could that be?"
"After saving Elena, I passed out. Only Stella was with me; she took credit." Cecilia explained.
Vivian was incredulous. "How shameless! Have Zachary and Nathaniel both been deceived? Ceci, you need to clarify this with Nathaniel quickly!"
Cecilia gazed calmly at the light rain. "I tried, but he didn't believe me. It's been over a decade, and I have no proof. Besides, I'm unsure if Nathaniel's kindness stems solely from gratitude."
Vivian understood. "Stella's success is certainly due to Nathaniel's influence. He'll always remember his first love. Let's drop it. Once you're pregnant, we'll leave, regardless of whether Nathaniel's been deceived or not." Vivian secretly hoped Nathaniel's pride would be shattered by Stella's deception, leaving him confused and regretful.
After their conversation, Cecilia prepared to leave, noticing a Maybach parked at the entrance.
