Chapter 238: It Has Always Been Me You Love

At that moment, Nathaniel threw caution to the wind. Cecilia’s eyes widened. “You’re such a bastard!”

Nathaniel chuckled. “If so, why were you once head over heels for me?”

Sensing alcohol on his breath, Cecilia believed he was drunk and making a fool of himself. “I don’t want to talk to a drunkard. Let go of me.”

“No way!” Nathaniel hugged her tightly. Leaning in, he whispered, “If I let you go, are you going to elope with Calvin?”

Cecilia tugged at his hands, but Nathaniel refused to release her. He said, “Why did you betray me? Weren’t you the one who promised to love me forever? Why didn’t you keep your promise? Do you know how I felt when I first saw that child? I damn well thought he was my son! Yet, he told me his father was Calvin! Our child hadn’t been gone long, and you were already carrying his? How could you be so heartless?”

Fueled by alcohol, he poured out his frustrations. Cecilia remained silent, her lips pressed together.

“Who exactly is the bastard?” Nathaniel pressed, grasping her chin and forcing her to look at him. The smell of alcohol made Cecilia nauseous.

“You’d better let go of me, Nathaniel,” she said, struggling to keep from vomiting.

“What if I don’t?” Nathaniel, genuinely drunk, was oblivious to her distress. A retching sound followed. Nathaniel’s face darkened. Cecilia immediately left him and rushed to the bathroom.

This feeling is all too familiar. I must be pregnant.

She forgot to close the door. Nathaniel, somewhat sobered, entered. Frowning, he removed his soiled shirt and approached her. “Do I disgust you that much?”

Cecilia, wanting to leave, was again grabbed by Nathaniel. He lifted her, and she cried out, “Put me down, Nathaniel!” She couldn’t reach him to grab his shirt.

Nathaniel carried her upstairs, tossing her onto the bed before throwing himself on top of her. His weight was overwhelming. She had no desire for intimacy. She bit his shoulder.

The pain startled Nathaniel. He stared at her, his fingers grasping her chin. He tightened his grip, causing her pain. He hugged her tightly, the scent of alcohol heavy. His hand traced the scar on her back. “It’s always been me you love, right?”

Cecilia might have agreed in the past, but now, he was nothing like the gentle brother she remembered. He was cold, detached, and unapproachable.

Nathaniel, receiving no answer, lay awake, his head throbbing. He was unsure if it was from the alcohol or something else. His drunken state caused him to miss Mason’s calls and remain unaware that over seven billion had vanished from his account.

Jonathan had anticipated an easier hack this time than the last. Despite the vast sum displayed on his computer screen, he wasn't shocked. He slowly transferred the money to Cecilia’s overseas companies, investing it in batches under various pretexts.
