Chapter 305: Sue for Bigamy

Elena sat in the car, her gaze fixed on Daltonia Villa where Nathaniel resided. Turning to Ernest beside her, she asked, "Mr. Ernest, you handled Nathaniel's case before, didn't you?"

Nathaniel had refused her suggestions, unwilling to enter a new marital alliance or accept Stella as she'd hoped. His isolation in Daltonia Villa worried her. To address this, she'd sought Ernest, his former divorce lawyer, for information.

"Yes, I did," Ernest replied.

"I'd like to inquire about Nathaniel's circumstances," Elena began. "Does my daughter-in-law, Cecilia, have any obligation to care for him?" Her intention was subtly implied.

Ernest, ever perceptive, understood. "Of course," he paused thoughtfully. "I can help Mr. Rainsworth draft a legal summons requiring Cecilia's care."

A faint smile touched Elena's lips. "Good. I want Cecilia to receive a lawyer's letter today. Can you arrange that?"

"Certainly," Ernest replied.

Pleased, Elena offered her business card. "Mr. Ernest, I invite you to join Orion Corporation," she said, implying future collaboration.

Ernest politely declined, his smile distant. "Thank you, but I don't need it."

Elena barely registered his refusal; her focus remained on her objective. She'd succeeded. Stepping from the car and entering the villa, she considered her next move.

Nathaniel sat solemnly in his study, struggling with documents. His blindness rendered comprehension nearly impossible, fueling his frustration. His sharp mind struggled with even simple tasks.

Elena entered, her heart heavy at the sight of her once brilliant son. Despite her bitterness, she steeled herself.

"Nathaniel, I need to talk to you," she said firmly.

He closed the document and turned. "What is it?"

"Cecilia is two months pregnant," Elena revealed.

Nathaniel's heart sank, his lips tightening.

"You two are married, and married couples should reconcile," Elena continued. "Regardless of past disagreements, you should be there for her."

She knew his agreement to divorce Cecilia stemmed from his blindness and ignorance of her pregnancy. She pressed on, "As a man, it's your duty to care for your wife and child. Even blind, you wouldn't settle for mediocrity."

"I'll arrange for someone to take you to her," Elena suggested. "Shower her with affection, and she'll change her mind."

Nathaniel clenched his fist. He was blind and reluctant, but knew Elena would force compliance. Deep down, he longed to see Cecilia, missed her terribly, and wished to be with her.

Before he could act, Cecilia received a lawyer's letter. Ernest delivered it personally, issuing a stern warning: "Ms. Smith, according to Article 1059 of the Civil Code, spouses have a mutual obligation of support. Mr. Rainsworth's blindness, due to a car accident, necessitates care. If you fail to fulfill your duty, I will sue on his behalf."

Cecilia gripped the letter, her anger flaring. "Did Nathaniel send you?"

Ernest answered honestly, "No, it's Elena. She hopes you'll care for Nathaniel and fulfill your wifely duties."

"What if I don't?" Cecilia challenged.

Ernest smiled, his eyes cold despite his gentle expression. "I remember your admission of infidelity in court. If you need a reminder, ask Vivian. She knows what I'm capable of. I could easily have you jailed for bigamy."

"Are you seriously considering jail time after having the baby?" he added.

As they spoke, a long luxury car approached.
