Chapter 339: Showing Him the Will

A maid opened the mansion door. Seeing Cecilia's simple clothes, disdain flickered across her face.

โ€œAre you Ms. Smith?โ€

โ€œYes. Iโ€™m looking for Paula and Magnus.โ€

The maid led them inside. As they approached the living room, she informed Cecilia, โ€œMadam Paula is out for tea, but Mr. Magnus is at home.โ€

The formal address hinted at Paula and Magnusโ€™s apparent prosperity.

In the living room, Magnus sat waiting, impeccably dressed in an expensive suit. A million-dollar Patek Philippe watch adorned his wrist; his cufflinks were worth hundreds of thousands. He was admiring a renowned painting.

Clearly, Magnus lacked artistic appreciation. He casually asked the delivery man, โ€œHow much is this painting worth?โ€

โ€œOur boss spent a hundred million on it,โ€ the eager man replied.

โ€œOne hundred million? Fine, Iโ€™ll take it. Tell your boss Iโ€™ll handle his backlog.โ€

โ€œAll right.โ€

The man swiftly departed. Magnus, radiating arrogance, tossed the painting to the maid. โ€œPut this in the treasure vault,โ€ he commanded, ignoring Cecilia.

Cecilia remained unfazed. She now understood the significance of everythingโ€”and the importance of the will in her possession.

Sven stood guard outside the living room. The housekeeper had already informed Magnus of their arrival. He finally turned to his sister, a mocking glint in his eyes.

โ€œYouโ€™re not divorcing Nathaniel for that man, are you?โ€

Cecilia's divorce from Nathaniel was notorious; Magnus, naturally, knew. Like Paula, he considered her foolish, beyond redemption. How dare she dismiss the Rainsworth family?

Cecilia's response was cold and indifferent. โ€œWithdraw the lawsuit immediately!โ€

Magnus recognized this resolveโ€”the same steely determination she'd shown before attempting suicide.

He scoffed. โ€œWhy should I?โ€

Cecilia silently handed him their father's will. โ€œThis is the will Dad drafted behind your and Madam Paulaโ€™s backs.โ€

Magnus's initial surprise quickly turned to shock as he read it. Their father had bequeathed all his businesses to Cecilia. The will bore his fatherโ€™s signature, official seal, and thumbprint.

Wordlessly, Magnus tore the will to shreds. โ€œHow could this be? How could our father leave everything to you, a deaf person?โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s just a photocopy. If you enjoy shredding documents, I have more,โ€ she retorted, producing several copies and tossing them before him.

Magnus, his childhood rebelliousness surfacing, grabbed Cecilia by the neck. โ€œYou bitch!โ€

Cecilia remained calm. Since returning to the Smith family, Magnus had never treated her like a sister. Paula had always deemed her a burden, a cripple, unworthy of family. As a child, Paula had allowed Magnus to hit Cecilia with impunity, fostering his violent nature.

โ€œI suddenly regret it now,โ€ Cecilia confessed, her voice strained.

Magnus smirked. โ€œGood to know you regret threatening me. I could beat you senseless, just like when we were kids.โ€

โ€œI regret not bringing out the will sooner,โ€ Cecilia corrected.

Magnusโ€™s rage ignited; his hand rose to strike her. But Sven intervened, hoisting Magnus into the air and kicking him from the living room, a spray of blood following him.
