Chapter 425: One Glass to Knock Her Out

By the time they reached the Rainsworth residence, night had fallen. A housekeeper opened the door. "Mr. Nathaniel, Ms. Smith, dinner is ready."

With a stoic expression, Nathaniel asked, "What did you call my wife?" He recalled instructing all housekeepers to address Cecilia as Mrs. Rainsworth.

The housekeeper lowered her head. "Mrs. Rainsworth," she corrected herself. It wasn't forgetfulness, but Nicholas's current authority and her past friction with Cecilia.

Cecilia was surprised by Nathaniel's defense; her opinion of him shifted favorably. They proceeded to the dining room, where Nicholas and Cassandra were already seated. Cassandra, subtly upset by the day's events, immediately noticed Cecilia. Having only conducted a cursory investigation, Cassandra was struck by Cecilia's resemblance to herself, though Cecilia's eyesโ€”clear and captivatingโ€”were unforgettable. Only upon seeing Cecilia's hearing aids did Cassandra's jealousy surface.

"Nathaniel, Cecilia," Cassandra greeted, rising.

Cecilia nodded politely, maintaining composure. She had also observed Cassandra, confirming her resemblance to the women in the videos and noting their similar auras.

Nicholas approached, calling to Nathaniel, who responded with an impassive hum. After Cecilia helped Nathaniel sit, a strange atmosphere settled over the dining room.

Elena, still in her room, called Wren to return. He rarely came unless necessary. After the call, she joined the others in the dining room, announcing, "Let's eat."

During the meal, a housekeeper served Nathaniel. Elena voiced her displeasure. "Cecilia, I'm not scolding you, but Nathaniel is your husband. Since he can't see, shouldn't you feed him first?"

Before Cecilia could respond, Nathaniel interjected, "Ceci is my wife, not a servant." Elena was speechless. His amnesia had unexpectedly altered his nature.

Cassandra watched, jealousy rising as Nathaniel defended Cecilia. She served Nicholas vegetables, saying, "Here, Nicholas, eat more." Nicholas, a hint of coolness in his eyes, replied gently, "All right. Make sure you eat more too." His gaze subtly shifted to Cecilia, then to the housekeeper, who promptly poured red wine.

Lost in their thoughts, Cecilia felt something was amiss. While not a heavy drinker, a single glass shouldn't have this effect, yet her head was spinning. She attributed it to the long car ride. Nathaniel, however, was subtly discarding his wine.

After dinner, Cecilia prepared to leave with Nathaniel.
