Chapter 427: How Should I Address You

In the car, Cecilia felt extremely uncomfortable. The doctor had assured her a small glass of fruit wine wouldn't harm her, but she felt unusually unwell, overcome by fatigue and heat.

โ€œNathaniel, where are we going? I think Iโ€™m getting carsick,โ€ she said.

โ€œJust lean on me and take a nap. You wonโ€™t feel dizzy anymore,โ€ Nathaniel gently coaxed.

Cecilia leaned against his shoulder, closing her eyes. They were incredibly close; Nathaniel could smell her faint perfume. His Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed, suppressing the stirrings in his heart.

Finally, they arrived at the hospital. Nathaniel carried Cecilia to a private examination room. They underwent an examination; fortunately, the substance in the alcohol hadn't harmed them. They only needed to wait for the drug to wear off.

Zachary rushed in. โ€œNathaniel, what happened?โ€

Cecilia was already asleep. Nathaniel motioned for Zachary to be quiet, then they moved outside.

โ€œNathaniel, why is Cecilia here?โ€ Zachary asked.

โ€œShe ate something she shouldnโ€™t have. Itโ€™s not a big deal,โ€ Nathaniel replied. Heโ€™d been worried and asked Zachary to come because he couldn't see. The day's events only increased his frustration with his blindness. He believed things would have been different if he could see.

โ€œItโ€™s good sheโ€™s okay,โ€ Zachary said, relaxing slightly. Cecilia had saved him, and he hadn't had the chance to repay her. He wouldn't allow anything else to happen to her.

Zachary initially wanted to wait with Nathaniel, but he was soon asked to leave. Nathaniel then returned home with Cecilia.

As the night progressed, Cecilia slowly opened her eyes, feeling clearer. She shifted, her hand brushing against something warm. She squeezed it; it was firm. Turning, she saw Nathaniel's handsome, stern face. She'd been holding his arm.

She quickly released him and sat up. Nathaniel, his voice hoarse, asked, โ€œStill tired?โ€

Cecilia's cheeks flushed. โ€œNo. Perhaps the car ride exhausted me more than I expected.โ€

Nathaniel accepted her explanation. โ€œRemember to be more careful with what you eat in the future.โ€ He couldn't know if she did certain things, being blind.

โ€œYeah,โ€ Cecilia replied. She hadn't considered the wine might be problematic. Sheโ€™d even asked the housekeeper, who said it was low-alcohol fruit wine, suitable for pregnant women.

โ€œAll right, go back to sleep,โ€ he said.

Cecilia glanced around the room, noticing only one bed. The couch was gone. She knew who was responsible. The bed was large enough for them both.

โ€œOkay,โ€ she murmured, curling up and falling asleep.

The next morning, her alarm woke her. Sheโ€™d rolled into Nathanielโ€™s arms. Dawn broke. Cecilia remembered she needed to prepare Nicholas's engagement party. She quickly got ready and left the bed. The older generation in Tudela had many engagement traditions requiring personal involvement. Although she didn't particularly care for the Rainsworth family, Nicholas was kind, so she wanted to help.

Nathaniel had been awake. Seeing her leave quietly, he waited until she was downstairs before getting up. As soon as Cecilia reached the bottom, Cassandra approached. โ€œI didnโ€™t ask last night, but should I address you as my younger sister or sister-in-law?โ€
