Chapter 445 Gone Forever
Cecilia was bewildered. โWhat do you mean?โ
โStop playing dumb. Why would Nicholas call you Ceci privately?โ Cassandraโs eyes blazed with anger.
Cecilia explained that they had known each other since childhood. Cassandra remained unconvinced. โBe honest. Are you trying to steal Nicholas from me? Have you set your sights on him now that youโre no longer interested in Nathaniel?โ
Cecilia found Cassandra unreasonable. โIโm married to Nathaniel. How could I steal Nicholas?โ
โDonโt think Iโm clueless! You and Nathaniel have been considering divorce!โ Cassandra shuddered, recalling Nicholas calling for Cecilia during their intimacy. โNo one steals a man from me, not even Paulaโs daughter! Just you wait.โ
Cassandra stormed off. Cecilia didnโt take her words to heart; sheโd long accepted the situation and never considered reuniting with Nicholas.
Returning to her room, Cecilia began packing to leave, uneasy about leaving Martha and Elliot alone in Sparaville. Nathaniel helped her.
โYour brother just got engaged. Want to stay longer?โ
โNo, Iโll go home with you.โ
โAll right.โ
They packed, and at dawn, they bid farewell to Elena and departed. Snow fell heavily. The driver stopped abruptly. Lowering the window, Cecilia saw Nicholas standing in the snow.
He approached and handed her a bag. Puzzled, Cecilia asked, โWhat is this?โ
โThe engagement gift,โ Nicholas replied gently.
Cecilia accepted it without hesitation. Then Nicholas said to Nathaniel, โThere are some things Iโd like to discuss with you privately.โ
Nathaniel took Ceciliaโs hand. โWait for me,โ he whispered. Cecilia, wanting to avoid giving Nicholas the wrong impression, didnโt pull away. โAll right,โ she replied, watching them walk off.
With Cecilia gone, the tension between the brothers became palpable. Nicholas glanced back at Cecilia, then said slowly, โNathaniel, when do you plan to return Cecilia to me?โ
A cold smirk touched Nathanielโs lips. โReturn? Did Cecilia marry you and have children with you?โ The implication was clear: they were married, and there was no going back.
Coldness flashed in Nicholasโs eyes. โHow can you contend with me when youโre blind? I will soon control Orion Corporation.โ
โLetโs talk once you do,โ Nathaniel replied, uninterested. His brother had always been a wolf in sheepโs clothing, outwardly gentle but inwardly ruthless.
After Nathaniel left, Nicholas texted Cecilia: โIf anything upsetting happens, let me know. Iโll always be there.โ
Cecilia saw the message but didnโt reply. After Nathaniel got into the car, she put away her phone and asked, โWhat did you two talk about?โ
โJust some chatter.โ
Nicholas might have seemed mature, but he was incredibly childish. Cecilia was married to Nathaniel, and the child she carried was undoubtedly his. There was no way he would give her back to Nicholas.
