Chapter 462 Her Name Is Cassandra

Paula picked up the document, a puzzled look on her face. It was a lawyer's letter, a surprising discovery. The letter stated that Regas, before his death, had left all his assets to Cecilia, who was now demanding Paula and Magnus return all businesses owned by Smith Corporation. During her marriage to Regas, Paula hadn't been favored; a prenuptial agreement ensured all Smith Corporation profits belonged solely to him. Therefore, the will leaving everything to Cecilia was legally sound.

"How dare that woman sue me!" Paula exclaimed.

Cassandra scoffed. "Mom, you need to handle this properly. This could affect Dad's company." Cassandra, though respecting Paula for her contribution to Ralph's success, harbored deep resentment, refusing to acknowledge her as her mother.

"I know. I'll take care of it," Paula replied. "If Cecilia wins, I'll lose my place in the Evans family."

Magnus, seated on the couch, quietly munched chips, listening intently. He hadn't expected his sister's audacity in suing their mother. He saw an opportunity. "Cecilia's changed," he mused. "This could be my chance to regain control of Smith Corporation."

"Mom, I'm going out for a bit," he announced, leaving to call Cecilia. He proposed an alliance: "Let's team up. I'll help you win, and I'll become CEO."

Cecilia's response was sharp. "Wasn't I clear? You're not management material. If you need a job, I'll offer you one as a janitor."

Magnus, frustrated by her rejection and intimidated by Zachary, could only retort, "As a woman, you think you can run Smith Corporation? Have you no shame?" Cecilia ended the call, blocking Magnus's number.

"Darn it! You just wait!" Magnus fumed.

Cecilia, about to take a break, received a call from her investigator. "Ms. Smith, the results are in. Cassandra and Paula are mother and daughter. I'll send you the DNA test results."

Cecilia's grip tightened on her phone. The news, while expected, still surprised her. Paula had cheated, having a child with another man—a fact contradicting her previous claims. Cecilia was astounded by Paula's deception.

After reviewing the DNA results, a call from Norman jolted her back to reality. "What is it, Mr. Jenkins?"

"The lawyer's letter's been sent. Paula won't have peace for a few days," Norman replied.

"Thanks," Cecilia said, pleased to keep Paula on edge. Paula's calls flooded in, but Cecilia silenced her phone, needing time to process the revelation about Cassandra's parentage.

At home with Martha, Cecilia confided, "Paula has another daughter, older than me. Her name is Cassandra."
