Chapter 489: Hide His Feelings
Vivian listened to the belittling whispers, her brows furrowed. โZachary, your grandfather is calling you home for dinner,โ she announced.
Silence fell instantly. Confusion, then contemplation, rippled through the room. Go home for dinner? The young men stifled laughter. The Sinclair heir summoned home for dinner by a woman?
Zacharyโs expression shifted, but he ignored her. Vivian turned to Jonathan.
Reluctantly, Jonathan said, โGrandpa said tomorrowโs New Yearโs Eve. If you come home late again, donโt bother coming back.โ He turned to Vivian. โMommy, weโve delivered our message. Letโs go home.โ
Vivian nodded. Before leaving, she glared at Zacharyโs friends and declared, โWe Kennedys may be of humble origins, but we never aspired to cling to Sinclair prestige. It was the Sinclairs who sought to marry into our family.โ
She left with Jonathan. She felt shy, yet she'd asserted herself. Only then did everyone realize it was Vivian. No wonder Zachary disliked her; she was fierce. And she had a child with her.
โZach, are they yourโฆ fiancรฉe and son?โ Darren asked.
Zachary grinned sheepishly, recalling their message. โHmm,โ he murmured. Then, โDarren, I suddenly remembered something. I must leave.โ He hastily departed.
Whispers followed: โThatโs Vivian. Bold, daring to speak to Zachary like that.โ โShe must be banking on her engagement to the Sinclair heir.โ โWhy do I feel that kid doesnโt resemble Zachary?โ โAre you trying to get yourself killedโฆ?โ
Vivian and Jonathan returned to Sinclair Manor. Upon arrival, they received a call from Cecilia. Cecilia asked if they could join her New Yearโs celebration.
Vivian hesitated. โCeci, Old Mr. Sinclair still believes Jonathan is his grandson. Heโs invited many Sinclair relatives.โ
โIs tomorrow fully occupied?โ Cecilia asked.
Vivian nodded. โYes. Old Mr. Sinclair adores Jonathan. I canโt imagine his disappointment if he knew the truth.โ
Cecilia found a secluded corner. โVivian, I plan to start anew with Nathaniel.โ
Vivian was mildly surprised. โAre you sure?โ
โYes, I want to give us a chance.โ
โWhatever you decide, I support you.โ Vivian knew Cecilia and Nathaniel couldnโt become strangers; they had two children.
โDo you want to tell him those two are his?โ
Cecilia gazed into the night. โNot yet. Heโs kind now because of his amnesia. I donโt know if heโll be the same once he recovers.โ
Vivian nodded. โYouโre right. What if heโs pretending?โ
Then she corrected herself. โItโs impossible. If he disliked you, why pretend? Nathaniel, proud as he is, wouldnโt feign affection.โ
