Chapter 537 Leave It To Me
โGo on.โ
โI have a hunch Mr. Rainsworthโs disappearance might be connected to Mr. Nicholas. I can approach the Murdock family and others, but Nicholasโฆ,โ Mason hesitated, appearing troubled. It was inappropriate for a subordinate like him to visit Nicholas. Besides, he couldnโt possibly visit numerous locations in one night.
Before he finished, Cecilia nodded. โAll right. Leave it to me.โ
โOkay,โ Mason urged. โIf you encounter difficulties, seek help from Madam Elena.โ He knew Elena wouldnโt remain idle if Nathaniel were in trouble.
Cecilia nodded again, putting Mason at ease. He then led his men to the Murdock family. Whether or not the Murdocks were involved, the trouble that befell Nathaniel after the banquet was undeniably linked to them.
Half an hour later, the Murdocks were surrounded by Mason's bodyguards, prompting Ethan to panic.
โMr. Sanders, whatโs this?โ
Mason cut to the chase. โWhere is Mr. Rainsworth?โ
โHow would I know where your employer is, Mr. Sanders? Did you lose him?โ Ethan retorted, masking his anxiety with humor. He looked at the throng of figures shrouded in darkness, puzzled. Hasn't Nathaniel lost his power and influence? How does he still command such loyalty?
Hearing Ethanโs tone, Mason adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses. Without hesitation, he grabbed Ethanโs wrist, yanking him backward. A sickening crack echoedโa dislocated bone.
โAh!โ Ethan cried, โMr. Sanders, letโs talk calmly. I truly donโt know where Mr. Rainsworth is.โ
Masonโs gaze hardened. โDo you want to lose your other hand?โ
Ethan endured the pain. โEven if you crippled me, I still wouldnโt know.โ
Time ticked by. Mason refused to waste time. โThink carefully. If anything happens to Mr. Rainsworth, you wonโt live to see tomorrow.โ
Ethan nodded frantically. โI understand! Iโd never harm him. You can assign someone to watch me. If I ever move against Mr. Rainsworth, let them kill me.โ
He was telling the truth. Heโd only helped Nicholas administer medicine to Nathaniel. Nicholas orchestrated Nathanielโs subsequent removal; Ethan knew nothing more. Nicholas had also assured him he wouldn't kill Nathaniel.
Mason left someone to watch Ethan before proceeding to other leads. That night, no one in Tudela slept soundly. Zachary was especially restless.
Vivian rushed to the hotel, near tears. โDid you lose Jon?โ
โHeโs not lost. Someoneโs looking for him,โ Zachary scowled. โWho dares touch that little brat? Theyโre courting death!โ
When Zachary found the man Jonathan had pranked, the man knelt, profusely apologizing. โMr. Sinclair, I didnโt know he was your son! Even if I had a hundred times the courage, I wouldn't have dared chase him. I wouldโve let him do whatever he wanted!โ
Vivian was confused. โJonโs sensible. Why would he pull your pants for no reason?โ
The man shrugged. โI donโt know.โ He never expected such a disastrous day: first, pants-pulled-down humiliation, then abduction by the Sinclairs.
Zachary kicked the man, then ordered his men, โDrag him away and bury him.โ
Terror seized the man. โNo! Mr. Sinclair, spare me! I truly regretโฆโ
Vivian recoiled. Sheโd only heard tales of Zacharyโs ruthlessness; she never imagined heโd treat human life so casually.
