Chapter 572: Made Some Delicious Food for You
Puzzled, Cecilia turned to Nathaniel. "I'm blind," he continued.
Throughout their walk to the car, he felt the curious stares and heard hushed whispers. After a brief silence, Cecilia replied, "Being blind isn't embarrassing. Those who discriminate are the ones who should be ashamed."
This reminded Nathaniel of his past disdain for Cecilia's hearing impairment. "I'm sorry, Ceci," he mumbled.
Cecilia, bewildered, asked, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Let's go," he said.
On the drive back, Nathaniel asked about Paula's faked illness. "An internationally renowned neurosurgeon helped me find the evidence. We'll send her back to prison soon," Cecilia replied.
Nathaniel was surprised. He'd assigned Zachary to handle it discreetly. He wondered how she'd secured the neurosurgeon's assistance.
"What about the inheritance lawsuit?" he asked.
"It requires further deliberation. It's complicated," Cecilia answered. Years had passed; the Smith family's bankruptcy made the legal battle exceptionally difficult.
Nathaniel didn't press further, nor did he mention his plan to acquire the Evans family's overseas projects. The Evans family, built on exploiting a woman, was an easier target than the Smiths had been. He intended to gift their business to Cecilia as Smith Corporation, surprising her.
At Daltonia Villa, Elliot waited impatiently for nightfall, planning to confront Nathaniel. "Darn it! Why isn't he back yet?" he exclaimed.
The nanny reassured him, mentioning Cecilia's expected return. "Mr. Rainsworth," Elliot clarified.
The nanny started to comfort him when they heard approaching footsteps. Elliot rushed out to meet Cecilia and Nathaniel.
"Why are you outside, Eli? Aren't you cold?" Cecilia asked anxiously.
"No. I just came out when I heard you," Elliot replied, glaring at Nathaniel while tugging at his clothes. "Come in quickly, Mr. Rainsworth. I made some delicious food for you."
Nathaniel had forgotten his earlier promise. Elliot's unusual attentiveness seemed strange, prompting Nathaniel's instinctive refusal. "No, thanks. I'm full."
"Just a little. I made rice balls especially for you," Elliot pleaded.
Even Cecilia noticed Elliot's odd behavior. "Eli, why did you prepare food for Mr. Rainsworth?" she inquired.
"Mr. Rainsworth saved Jon, didn't he? I'm showing my gratitude," Elliot said sincerely.
The timing felt off to Nathaniel, fueling his curiosity about Elliot's true motives. He agreed to eat.
Elliot led him to the kitchen and presented a rice ball. Nathaniel bit into it, finding it filled with mustard.
Maintaining composure, Nathaniel finished the rice ball. "Not bad," he commented.
Elliot was stunned. "Have another, Mr. Rainsworth," he offered.
