Chapter 593: A New Contract

“Do I have to pay so much in compensation?” Eric asked incredulously.

“What do you think? Your money was either donated or spent on food, drink, and entertainment. You can’t simply pay it back now,” the agent sighed.

After calculating with his agent, Eric realized he could only pay the penalty by selling his house.

“Let’s sell the house, then.” Houses and cars were insignificant assets to him.

“You must be joking!”

The agent ignored him and contacted companies previously interested in collaborating. However, they'd heard the news and were hesitant, agreeing to wait until Eric resolved his issues.

Finally, Imminence Corporation responded differently.

“We offer a three-year contract, and our company will handle negative online news about Eric,” Mason said, answering the call personally.

The agent, without consulting Eric, accepted the contract. He’d also researched Imminence Corporation, noting its impressive recent development. Eric was unaware that Nathaniel was behind Imminence Corporation; he reluctantly accepted the contract.

“Let’s check out Imminence Corporation today.”

“All right,” Eric nodded impatiently.

Meanwhile, at Imminence Corporation, Mason informed Nathaniel of the agreed-upon three-year partnership. In essence, Eric would work under Nathaniel for three years.

Nathaniel, stern-faced, closed the file. “When is he coming?”

“This afternoon.”

“Do you know what to do?” Nathaniel asked gravely.

“Yes,” Mason nodded. How dare that toy boy get involved with Mrs. Rainsworth? He’s playing with fire. Working here, he'll have a tough time.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Cecilia called Eric, asking if she should intervene.

Eric reassured her, “Don’t worry. Rumors are common for celebrities. In a few days, new news will overshadow this.”

Cecilia wasn't naive; she knew this wouldn't disappear quickly.

“If you need me to clarify anything, let me know,” Cecilia said.

“All right, I’m fine. I need to get back to work. See you later.”

“Okay.”

Cecilia hung up and returned to Elliot’s ward. Bodyguards and the housekeeper were preparing for his noon discharge. Cecilia waited outside, delaying lunch until Nathaniel arrived to pick up Elliot.

“Nathaniel,” Cecilia called as he passed, “Eric and I discussed music yesterday. It wasn't what the media is suggesting.”

Nathaniel paused. “Why at night? Wasn’t there a better time?”

“We were at a restaurant, not a hotel,” Cecilia thought him unreasonable.

“So? Do you want to talk at a hotel?” Nathaniel’s voice deepened.

Nathaniel, usually domineering but reasonable, was being unreasonable. Cecilia gave up. “I want to see Eli.”

Nathaniel didn’t reply. After someone brought Elliot out, he said, “Let’s go. Get in the car.”

Cecilia had no choice but to follow him. They shared a car, with the housekeeper and Elliot in another.

An unusual tranquility filled the car. Cecilia received a voice message from Vivian, but didn’t lower the volume. Vivian’s voice said, “Ceci, is Eric as handsome in real life as on TV?”
