Chapter 601: What Did I See in Him?
The answer surprised Cecilia. Vivian informed her that Ernest had sought her out, telling her not to marry Zachary. Naturally, Cecilia hadn't listened. During their ensuing argument, Ernest had kissed her against her will. As luck would have it, Zachary witnessed this and immediately intervened, punching Ernest. The two men then brawled.
Cecilia frowned. โWhat on earth does Ernest want? Hasnโt he already gotten married? Why is he stopping you from marrying Zachary and even treated you like that? What a scoundrel.โ
Vivian nodded. โYeah, I was so furious with him; I wanted to tear him apart.โ She leaned back, took a deep breath, and laughed self-deprecatingly. โI really donโt know what I saw in him. Maybe it was his good looks. Iโve never seen a man as handsome as him.โ
Cecilia thought Zachary's looks were comparable to Ernest's. However, Vivian didn't like Zachary; it was simply a matter of chemistry.
โIโm going crazy, Ceci,โ Vivian said, hugging Cecilia.
Cecilia patted her shoulder. โVivian, think it through. Donโt do anything youโll regret.โ She knew everyone had their own path; others could only guide, not travel it for them.
โYeah, I know,โ Vivian replied.
As Vivian drove Cecilia home, she asked, โCeci, do you think Iโm foolish? If I hadnโt stopped Zachary just now, Ernest might have been dead already. I saw Zacharyโs bodyguards following him.โ
Cecilia shook her head. โDonโt do anything that goes against your conscience. Thatโs all that matters.โ
โAll right.โ
Vivian waved goodbye as she pulled away. Matters of the heart are often beyond one's control. Despite knowing it was wrong, Vivian couldn't help but show kindness and mercy toward Ernest, who had hurt her.
When Cecilia returned to Daltonia Villa, Nathaniel hadn't yet come home. She glanced at the time; it was already nine o'clock. She wondered what he might be doing. Recently, Elliotโs health had improved; he went to sleep early. With nothing else to do, Cecilia turned on her phone and scrolled through it.
The sixth trending topic was about Zachary hitting Ernest. Despite both men being involved in the brawl, the news depicted Zachary as the aggressor. The Sinclair family's immense wealth meant news of their heir's actions was bound to draw public attention.
Scanning the news, Cecilia checked the trending topics about herself and Eric, only to find that they had been removed. The top trending news was now about Eric joining Imminence Corporation. She opened the article and read the numerous comments. Eric's fans rejoiced, and even his past controversies seemed to be forgiven.
Unbeknownst to her, this was short-lived, a fleeting moment of glory. It wouldn't be long before the tide turned against Eric.
In the Imminence Corporation building, Mason informed Nathaniel that most businesses in Dusch were falling under Imminence Corporation's sway, capitalizing on their vulnerabilities.
Nathaniel expressed disdain. โLetโs put the other acquisition plans on hold for now. We focus on dealing with the Leighton Group.โ Leighton Group was Miranda's maternal family's business. Nathaniel's card in Ramsworth Manor was no empty threat. He was planning a group purchase, aiming to take over the entire market within a month at the lowest price. Adnanโs minor tricks were insignificant compared to Nathaniel's ambition.
