Chapter 91: Take It Easy

Meanwhile, at the international preschool, Jonathanโ€™s school day ended, but the driver was delayed. Beside him, Felix chattered incessantly. โ€œDo you always have a driver pick you up?โ€

โ€œDuh?โ€ Jonathan replied, momentarily speechless.

Felix beamed with pride. โ€œMine are all my elders! Great-grandpa wants me to experience the family's love.โ€ He leaned closer, whispering mysteriously, โ€œDo you know who's picking me up today?โ€

โ€œWho?โ€ Jonathan asked, playing along; he knew Felix wouldn't stop otherwise.

โ€œGrandma Elena!โ€ Felix announced proudly.

Jonathan remained unconcerned. Why should he care? Elena wasn't his grandmother.

Lost in thought, he noticed Elena's car arrivingโ€”a luxurious vehicle that commanded attention. Impeccably dressed, Elena, despite being well over fifty, exuded charm and elegance. Every movement radiated sophistication.

Felix rushed toward her, calling out sweetly, but Elena's response was perfunctory. She only agreed to collect Felix because Niel had mentioned his parents were overseas.

A faint smile touched her lips. "Let's go."

Her gaze fell on Jonathan, and her expression softened. "Jon." She had another reason for being there: this child bore a striking resemblance to her son as a boy. She'd investigated, learning that Jonathan had recently returned from abroad, was living with the Kennedy family's daughter, and his biological father was unknown. She knew the Kennedys slightly, but not well.

Jonathan greeted her politely, "Hello, Grandma Elena."

Impressed by his manners, Elena's fondness grew. Leaving Felix, she crouched beside Jonathan. "Haven't your parents come to pick you up yet?"

Jonathan shook his head.

"Shall I take you home?" Elena saw an opportunity to meet Vivian.

"Thank you, but no need," Jonathan replied. "I don't prefer riding in a stranger's car."

Elena stiffened, discomfort washing over her. She genuinely liked the child and wanted to connect further, but Jonathan, spotting his ride, had already started walking away.

Seeing this, Elena silently resolved to visit the preschool more often. After Jonathan left, she drove Felix home, subtly inquiring about Jonathan during the ride.

Meanwhile, Jonathan sat in another car.

"Ms. Kennedy, what brings you here today?"

"What's wrong? You don't want me to pick you up?" Vivian tried to pinch his cheek, but Jonathan dodged her.

"Ms. Kennedy! Have you washed your hands?" He wasn't averse to physical affection from those close to him, but he'd inherited Nathaniel's strong sense of hygiene.

Vivian's hand froze. "Is this a sign that you resent me?"

"No, it's just that touching your face with unwashed hands spreads germs. Children have delicate skin; it's best to avoid it."

Vivian felt awkward watching Jonathan explain this earnestly. Reluctantly, she withdrew her hand, sighing.

"I came at your mother's request. She wanted me to remind you to take it easy at preschool. Don't show off your intelligence too much. You know they might take you away for research, right?"
