Chapter 180: Steal My Man
After Victor departed from the funeral, Layla cast a complex glance at Raylee, saying in a mild tone, โDonโt assume that just because youโve helped me, Iโll be grateful. Rosalind and Tiffany are no pushovers. If youโve offended them, youโd better pray for your own luck.โ
Shaking her head, Raylee said, โMs. Layla, I didnโt intend to assist you. I simply thought they took it too far.โ
โAll right. You can leave now. I will look into the matter between Jeremiah and Bradley. I wonโt wrong any innocent person, nor will I let any guilty one off the hook.โ
โI also fervently wish for Jeremiah to be vindicated.โ Raylee turned around and left.
After taking a couple of steps, she turned back and tentatively asked, โMs. Layla, could you let me know once the investigation results are out?โ
After a moment of hesitation, Layla finally gave a nod of agreement.
While Raylee was waiting for a car by the roadside, she suddenly felt a chilling breeze from behind. A shadow overlapped on the ground, startling her into wide-eyed fear. She immediately sidestepped to evade it.
Turning around, she realized it was Tiffany charging toward her, brandishing a stick with a menacing look, appearing as if she was about to teach her a lesson.
Sweat broke out all over Raylee. Tiffany was a combat artist. If she were to give Raylee a beating, Raylee would be lucky to escape with her life intact.
Despite her unease, Raylee managed to maintain her composure and said, โMs. Tiffany, please, try to stay calm.โ
โStay calm? After my dad publicly chastised me like that, you want me to calm down? F*ck you!โ Tiffany stepped forward, her teeth gritted in anger.
Raylee immediately stepped back. โWhat do you want?โ
โOf course, I wonโt kill you. My dad made it clear that none of us in the Lorimer family are allowed to lay a finger on you because you belong to Jeremiah, regardless of whether heโs dead or alive!โ Tiffany voiced her frustration, saying, โWhatโs that nonsense about? I donโt buy into such crap. Tell me. What kind of spell did you cast on my dad? Why is he so protective of you!โ
Rayleeโs anxious heart finally found relief when she heard those words.
โTiffany, my earlier remarks at the funeral were out of line, and for that, I apologize sincerely.โ Raylee offered a deep bow in apology. She knew a wise person would submit to circumstances in the face of absolute power.
โHmph! Lucky for you, you know your place. However, I wonโt accept your apology!โ Tiffany arrogantly glared at her. โDonโt think I canโt touch you just because my dad protects you. If you dare to snatch my man, Iโll make you regret your entire life! I had you in prison for four years, so I can just as easily make it ten. Brace yourself!โ
Raylee was nursing a throbbing headache. She had just managed to handle Layla, but she had to deal with Tiffany right after. Tiffany was nothing short of a plague god, far more troublesome than Layla. These folks from the Lorimer family just wonโt go away!
Patiently, Raylee explained to her, โMs. Tiffany, I believe I was quite clear the last time we spoke. The one whoโs after Casimir is Waverly, not me. You should be dealing with her instead of constantly coming after me. Whatโs your deal?โ
โHmph! Donโt try to deflect!โ Tiffany said, holding her head high with an air of arrogance. โDo you think Iโm oblivious to the fact that youโre trying to use me to get rid of your sister? She stole your identity, took away your family, snatched the man you cherished, and robbed you of everything you had!โ
โQuit your nonsense,โ Tiffany roared. โIโve done my research. Casimir is not at all interested in Waverly! Youโre intentionally clouding my judgment! Actually, the person Casimir truly fancies is you!โ
Raylee let out a soft chuckle, a hint of sorrow surfacing in the depths of her eyes. โIf what youโre saying is true, that Casimir is in love with me, then why did he abandon me during the four years I was in prison? If he really likes me, why hasnโt he married me? If things had worked out, would there ever be a chance for Waverly to come into the picture?โ
โBut he likes you now!โ Tiffany firmly stated her speculation. โEven though heโs usually such a calm and mature person, he threw caution to the wind, fooling around with you at the funeral. He even risked his life to save you in Musmeynia. That place is deadly, and one could lose their life at any moment. If he wasnโt deeply in love and concerned about you, why would he risk his life to save you?โ
Faced with Tiffanyโs wrath, akin to a deep-seated hatred for evil, Raylee found herself in a state of helplessness.
โAre you dead set on pointing the finger at me? Itโs really not necessary. Iโm not sure about his feelings toward me at this point. I canโt control his heart either. However, I can assure you that I have absolutely no feelings for him,โ Raylee said.
โReally?โ Tiffany was skeptical. โHmph! Heโs such an incredible man. How could you possibly let him go? Donโt think for a second that I canโt see your hidden agenda! Last time, when you deliberately stirred up trouble at Lorimer Estate, you were actually trying to use me to deal with Waverly! Youโre a scheming b*tch! Do you really think that by getting rid of Waverly, you can be with Casimir? Thatโs wishful thinking!โ
