Chapter 33 Leave Her
“You forced me to do this!” Samuel declared, seizing the auction box.
The disparity in strength between a man and a woman was significant, especially for Raylee, weakened by four years in prison. Her health had deteriorated; she was no match for Samuel. He shoved her backward, and with a loud splash, she plunged into the pool. Water enveloped her instantly. She thrashed, her cries muffled by the cold water. "Help!" she gasped.
Casimir instinctively moved to jump in, but Samuel stopped him. "Leave her. She knows how to swim. She was on the city's competitive swim team in middle school!"
Casimir hesitated, his gaze fixed on Raylee's struggles. He frowned. "She doesn't look like she knows how to swim. Are you sure?"
Shanice scoffed. "Come on, Casimir. She's lived with Samuel for years. Why would he lie?"
"Exactly," Samuel agreed coolly. "She's putting on a show. Ignore her."
He picked up the dropped box, revealing the pink diamond inside. A triumphant smile spread across his face. Turning to Waverly, he held it up. "Look, Wavy—your favorite pink diamond! I told you I'd get it for you!"
"Thank you, Samuel! I love you so much!" Waverly beamed, clinging to his arm.
Samuel felt deeply satisfied. His sister was grateful and appreciative, unlike Raylee, who constantly defied him. If he didn't control her, she'd cause more trouble.
Casimir, however, remained unconvinced. Raylee's struggle seemed genuine, not a performance. The crowd murmured anxiously, urging security to intervene, but Samuel stopped them.
Raylee had been underwater for nearly eight minutes. A suffocating pressure crushed her lungs. Her limbs weakened, her struggles slowing. Then, she sank.
"Still playing games?" Samuel taunted. "Your record for holding your breath is fifteen minutes. You've got five left."
Someone in the crowd hesitated. "She's not moving… What if something happens?"
Samuel dismissed them coldly. "She's my sister. I'll take responsibility."
Silence fell. Raylee stopped fighting. Casimir shouted urgently, "Raylee! Raylee, say something!" There was no response.
Chapter 33 Leave Her (continued)
Samuel's composure faltered; unease tightened his heart. Casimir was about to dive in when a tall figure preceded him. A man plunged into the water with powerful strokes. Casimir recognized Jeremiahil.
He swam to Raylee, lifting her lifeless body to the surface. Efficiently, he carried her to shore, immediately clearing her airway and beginning CPR. Raylee was limp and unresponsive.
Jeremiahil's voice was sharp. "Call an ambulance—now! If anything happens to her, every single one of you is responsible."
Someone pointed at Samuel. "A security guard tried to save her, but this man—her brother—said she could swim and refused to let anyone help!"
"Yeah, he said to leave her alone!"
Samuel stood frozen, staring at Raylee's pale face, utterly shaken. "S-She knew how to swim… Why is this happening?"
Waverly stepped forward, clinging to Samuel. "Maybe Samuel remembered wrongly! Please don't blame him!" Jeremiah glared at Samuel before focusing on Raylee, beginning mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
Casimir watched, his emotions a storm of worry, resentment, and something unnamed.
