While Raylee was waiting for her meal, a familiar voice suddenly called out to her.

“Is that you, Ms. Somers? It really is you. What a coincidence!”

Raylee turned around, only to find herself looking at Zachary.

“Hello, Mr. Macaluso, what brings you here?” she quickly asked.

“I’m one of the partners of this shop. The manager took the day off today, so I came over to help out.”

“I see.” Raylee looked at his leg with concern.

“You left the hospital before fully recovering from your injuries, and now you’re rushing back to work. Mr. Macaluso, are you sure your body can handle this?”

Zachary suddenly burst into laughter. “Ms. Somers, you know, you should never ask a man if their body can handle it.”

Raylee was briefly stunned. “Mr. Macaluso, you have a point, but you still need to know your limits.”

“Right, give me your payment code. I’ll reimburse you for the medical expenses.”

Zachary shook his head and said, “That’s not necessary. The relevant department has already covered my medical expenses. This was a terrorist attack, not a personal matter. You don’t have to pay. Anyway, enjoy yourself while waiting for your friend. I’ll need to walk around to see if there’s anything they need done. Also, when it’s time to settle the bill, just mention my name. They’ll give you a good discount.”

He had just turned around when Raylee stopped him. “Mr. Macaluso, I came alone today. Are you free right now? I’m feeling a bit troubled, and I could use someone to talk to.”

“With pleasure.” Zachary took a seat next to her and asked, “So, what’s wrong?”

Raylee sighed, pouring out her heart.

“I have a boyfriend, and for some reason, he has to wear a mask all day. Throughout our relationship, I never saw his face. However, I have another friend who has seen what my boyfriend looks like. He also has a female friend, an old acquaintance. She probably knows his true face as well. Does he even consider me his girlfriend anymore? Why won’t he let me see his face?”

“The day I was discharged from the hospital, I saw you and a masked man from a distance. Is it him?” Zachary asked, to which Raylee nodded.

“So, it is him!” The sudden realization on Zachary’s face was palpable.

“His masked appearance does seem ostentatious. If he isn’t intentionally trying to attract attention, then there must have been a compelling reason. This reason can be divided into psychological and physiological aspects. If we consider physiological factors, he might have been injured and disfigured, using a mask to hide his scars. He wouldn’t want the woman he loves most to see him in such a state. On one hand, he wants to safeguard his self-esteem, while on the other, he yearns to leave a good impression on you. If that’s the case, you should consider being more understanding.”

Raylee shook her head. “But I don’t mind. Even if his face is marred or if he’s incredibly ugly, I will still accept him. I like who he is, not what he looks like.”

“However, as a man, he doesn’t see things that way. Everyone wants to look their best in the eyes of the one they love most,” Zachary continued to analyze. “Let me explain the psychological aspect first, Ms. Somers, how long have you known him?”

“Probably just over half a year.”

“Are you sure?” Zachary wondered out loud.

“Since I have a minor in psychology, let me share a case study with you. During his school days, a boy had done something that hurt a girl, causing her irreversible damage. “Ms. Somers, do you think there’s anything worth referencing in this case?”

Raylee asked in surprise, “So, what you’re saying is, my boyfriend and I might have known each other before, he might have hurt me, and in order to reappear in my life, he’s wearing a mask?”

She instantly dismissed the idea.

“It’s impossible, I didn’t know him before…”
