Chapter 99: A Superficial Man

Divine, a beautiful girl despite her size, knew Greg disliked her, but she hadn't anticipated his utter contempt. "Greg, give me back my phone," she said, attempting to rise. He pushed her hard, causing her to fall and bruise her knee.

Greg sneered, his eyes gleaming with abhorrence. "I'm borrowing your phone for today. I'll return it tomorrow." He then sped away, leaving her on the highway.

Divine struggled to her feet, her bleeding knee throbbing with each painful step. Darkness fell, and rain began to pour. She trudged home, the torrential downpour stinging her face, blurring her vision. Shivering and aching, tears streamed down her cheeks. This, she concluded, was the worst day of her life; her pride utterly crushed by Greg.

Worried about Olive, Divine knew Greg stole her phone to obtain information to defame her.

The Hart Family

Pamela furiously stared at Greg's message, jealousy and hatred burning in her eyes. Initially, Elvis had struck her as handsome and reserved, his mannerisms elegant and dignified; low-key, veiled, mysterious, and cold. She'd been captivated since their first meeting, his private life seemingly impeccable, devoid of female companionship. She'd believed him to be anything but superficial.

Yet, he'd surprised her. From giving Olive his card to showering her with extravagant gifts, pampering her at the bar and in his office, Elvis proved no different from other men she'd known. He was clearly captivated by Olive.

Pamela reflected on Raven and North, concluding all men were the same: drawn to beautiful women, the more beautiful, the better. Her jealousy was nearly overwhelming. "Why not me? Why Olive or North?" she raged inwardly.

She messaged Greg: "Team leader Greg, great job. Now, log into the Ivory Council student group and expose this photo."

Greg replied swiftly: "If I hadn't seen it myself, I wouldn't believe Olive's relationship with the Augustine Corporation president." Another message followed quickly: "Although she passed Director Hudson's test, she's married. The news will devastate her. Use Divine's account to post it on the group; we'll avoid detection. This will also damage Olive and Divine's relationship."

Pamela replied, "Wow, you're so smart, Pamela."

Originally hesitant to expose Olive and Elvis's relationship, Pamela felt the situation slipping from her grasp. She had to act quickly, fearing Olive would claim her coveted position. She convinced herself her unmarried status gave her an advantage over the married Olive.

A knock sounded. Patrick's anxious voice called, "Pamela, are you in there?"

Pamela opened the door. "Dad, what's wrong?"

"Pamela, what's going on between President Augustine and Olive? I didn't initially believe it. What kind of man is Elvis? How can he like Olive? If he liked you, the number one socialite, it would be understandable. These rumors are baffling."

Patrick, envisioning himself as the wealthy president's father-in-law, was now confused.

"Dad, what did you hear?" Pamela asked.

"Everyone's asking if Olive is divorced, engaged to Elvis."

Pamela clenched her fists, realizing the bar incident had fueled the gossip. Smiling, she said, "Dad, Olive's been married to the Red Villa family for ages. You haven't met your son-in-law yet. Why not pay him a visit?"
